YOURSAY 'This NGO chief does not even know which part of Kok's video is insulting and immediately jumps to conclusions.'
NGO: It's obvious Kok was insulting Rosmah
Tholu:
Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) chairperson Abdul Rani Kulup, first of all, PM Najib Abdul Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor is not a leader.
She is not an elected representative of the people. She is only the consort of a leader. And secondly, even if it was obvious that it was unmistakably Rosmah that was ridiculed in the video, what is wrong with it? (In fact, it would be the height of naivety and ignorance of Malaysian politics not to realise that it was indeed Rosmah that the actress was portraying).
The rakyat have the right to point out the blatant extravagance of the government be it through a direct speech, an allusion, or even a satire. I do not see anything illegal about it. In fact the laws of our country permits it as long as it is harmless and not seditious.
SpongeBob: Abdul Rani, your actions do not reflect your organisation's objectives (that claim to promote 'muhibbah', harmony). Instead of promoting racial integration, your organisation is creating racial tension and seems to be protecting the abusers, and the immoral and corrupt ones.
Anyway, you finally admitted that ‘Mrs Jit’ is portraying the character of Rosmah. That's wonderful news.
Single Malt: I have watched the Teresa Kok Chinese New Year video. There is no innuendo of race or religion for anybody to get upset. This is just a satire like many produced by Comedy Court. Remember, we must be able to cultivate humour in our lives as we lament and face the many unnecessary ills created by the government.
And of late, the uncontrolled increase in prices of commodities is bringing a lot of difficulties, especially to the poor, while the rich and famous are having a whale of a time. This, the video/satire succeeded in depicting.
So why not imbibe some laughter as the best medicine? By the way, a satire is also meant to stir the minds of the guilty and if the cap fits, they may wear it. No need for police investigation.
Oh Ya?: A video that raises public interest concerns over rising cost of living caused by corruption and crony capitalism, as well as the living beyond their means lifestyle of the ruling elite and their family members, is taken as an insult to the sultans, the Agong and Malay Muslims.
If these personalities are really insulted and defamed they are the ones who should take the necessary legal action to protect their reputations and not via government powers and ‘samseng’ NGOs which are actually the ruling elite's left-wing arms.
By doing so, it is a clear cut absurd use of powers which is a hallmark of the ruling elite's that the people hate. Didn't former Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew and family use the courts instead of their political and government powers to clear their names whenever they were insulted or defamed?
Jiminy Qrikert: Abdul Rani Kulup, of course it is obvious. Now, you are a good Muslim so tell us the truth - you enjoy Zunar's cartoons very much, right? You find it hilarious how Zunar draws Rosmah's hair, the face, the humongous diamond rings, the oversized bags and how she leads tiny Najib by the nose, don't you?
That's how you recognise Rosmah in women with big hairdos, sporting huge rings and handbags, right? You see them everywhere, don't you?
Basically: In many countries, the media parody their leaders to make a point. I have seen countless parodies of President Ma, his rivals, and his predecessor on mainstream Taiwan news networks.
I remember a Hong Kong movie even parodied Queen Elizabeth II (when they were still under British rule). She didn’t murder chickens in protest.
I have seen parodies of Helen Clark when she was New Zealand’s prime minister as well. Only here, BN politicians and their extended family are revered as gods, or greater, that they cannot be taken in vain?
Not Confused: Much as I look on former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad as a hypocrite par excellence, one person I do respect is his wife. Just compare her with Rosmah Mansor. She doesn't strut around in so much obviously expensive refinery. If anyone is being parodied then perhaps she should look at herself as the public sees her.
Samurai: I if these people were around in the 80s they would have lodged a zillion police reports against national satirist Lat, who has lampooned leaders like Mahathir numerous times. Or maybe not, because Lat's Malay, right? No mileage to be gained there.
Ipohcrite: Abdul Rani Kulup, are you the self-proclaimed defender of Rosmah, the Malays, Islam and royalty?
Well, now the competition hots up between Ibrahim Ali, Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and Abdul Rani Kulup. But who will get the favours from the PM and/or the establishment, when there are so many competing parties? Sigh, so many deserving recipients, but not enough goodies to pass around.
JooGuan: This Abdul Rani does not even know which part of the video is insulting and immediately jumps to conclusion and supports the barbaric protest against Kok. This is a good example of our education system's failure to produce rational and right-minded nationals. Considering the Biro Tata Negara (BTN), perhaps this failure might be intentional?
YUNoAnon: When asked where in the video it insults what he claims, he can't answer. This clearly shows he does not know what he’s talking about. He’s just picking a fight.
Anonymous #03815719: You are a eunuch who is frightened to own up one's own doing; how are you going to defend the Malay's rights. I wonder if at all it is the PM's wife in the video, then let her sue Teresa, why you want to suck up to her?
Truthseeker: The constitution needs to be amended to make it an offence to make fun of or say anything bad about the PM's wife. Those idiotic morons are just behaving aggressively and arrogantly to gain notice and some brownie points from Najib.
Adsertor: It is the right of the rakyat to criticise any public and political figure for their unacceptable and questionable behaviour and wrongdoing.
Abdul Rani should migrate to North Korea if he cannot accept this basic right in a democracy. There they accept all the nonsense from their leaders in deafening silence.
When was Rosmah elected a national leader?
