MCA members stage sit-in protest against EGM

Anon1: Their hands are getting itchy after about nine months of not being able to take ministerial posts. Shameless, isn't it?

They declined positions because of the loss of support from the electorate, but now have made a U-turn because of personal greed.

Pputeh: For whose benefit is MCA chief Liow Tiong Lai and Co so determined to accept ministerial posts? They can't even get votes in the GE, but are now falling over one another to get government posts to enjoy the perks.

Louis: Liow, it is not the businessmen who want MCA to have a ministerial posts as you say. It is you who craves for the post.

Lim Chong Leong: Send Liow Tiong Lai to the Kajang by-election and win first before going for cabinet posts, because until then MCA cannot prove that the people's support has returned to it.

But then again, we know Brutus has got no guts.

Clearwater: MCA grassroot members, don't you realise your leaders are out to get what they can for themselves before MCA implodes?

They won't heed your pleas to save the party's honour and integrity, whatever that's left that is.

Rubystar_4037: These few clowns are probably paid by the previous MCA president. What a pathetic sight, trying to gain sympathy and hoping for a one-day fame on some blogs and Malaysiakini .

Go home children, you shame yourself just as MCA has shamed itself time and again.

Ferdtan: MCA's grassroots conscience action committee members consist of only nine members? So much for the conscience of the party.

MP: Oil wealth must be controlled by Parliament

RTD Airforce : I hope all Malaysians support this move, what a brilliant idea by Pakatan Rakyat (to set up a sovereign wealth fund for our oil revenue).

But everyone knows the Barang Naik and the Kangkong PM will not agree, and it will only happen over the dead body of former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Heavenly King: Dr M drained Bolehland's petroleum fund and kept Petronas accounts under the Official Secrets Act (OSA). That is why Norway's fund is RM2.7 trillion while Bolehland's is at a miserable RM5.4 billion.

Onyourtoes: Hello Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah, if we can't manage water, how can we manage oil?

For your information, despite the massive oil revenue, Norway has no subsidy on fuel and energy. Their priority is to keep the environment clean and population small and manageable. They earn high income but they also pay high taxes.

Here, we want 70 million population but all hungry and with little skills to produce anything worthwhile. Here we want 30 percent of the working population in the "public service" producing nothing. Here everything is privatised at exorbitant costs. So how?

KB Menon: This proposal is nothing new; it had been voiced many times before by responsible politicians and also the rakyat. So, if ever Pakatan does become the ruling government in future, this must be top priority on the 'to do' list.

Anonymous #25408937: This is long overdue but better late than never. A parliamentary select committee must also be established for a thorough review of all of Petronas' accounts since its inception.

If you are unable to make this happen in this Parliament session, then make this part of Pakatan GE14 manifesto.

Hussein: I spoken to my Singaporean friends and all of them said that Malaysia is really blessed with natural resources, especially oil.

However, revenue from oil must be managed well or else it will go into the pockets of greedy politician in power, like what is happening now. Cheers to your proposal.

Appum: That is what we meant by Umno's plundering and sucking the nation dry one day. That one day will come sooner rather than later if we do not change.

CiViC: This is quite a no-brainer that most people know about but refuses to acknowledge.

And we can bet our last dollar that Umno will not agree to this. They cannot afford to, they are already broke now - without Petronas, they will be in deep debts almost instantaneously.

And we can also bet our second last dollar even if Pakatan takes over Putrajaya, this will also not happen, as they will still need full control of Petronas's funds to sustain, given that two-thirds majority in Parliament is needed to mobilise these funds means it will never materialise.

Remember, our political scene will never allow any MP to vote for a proposal by the other party.

Well Thats Fantastic: Ask yourself why Petronas is under the PM's Department and not the cabinet? Also why are the accounts under the OSA?

I think the answer is this - the PM is supposed to treat Petronas like his personal ATM (Ask Dr M).
