Bahasa to be exclusive for Muslims next?
YOURSAY 'Not only can Christians not use the word ‘Allah’, they cannot use Bahasa?'
'Why Christians giving out BM leaflets in S'gor?'
Ouch:
Just because the Christian pamphlets are written in Bahasa Malaysia (BM) doesn't mean it is for Muslims to read. A lot of non-Malays cannot read Mandarin and English. They can only read in BM.
Hence Isma (Malaysian Muslim Solidarity) should think twice before shooting their mouths off. In the first place, who converted the medium of teaching into BM? All these misunderstandings happen because BM is used in the national schools attended by non-Malays.
Hence the leaflets in BM should not be an excuse for Isma to suspect the Christian missionary for allegedly preaching to Muslims.
Lim Chong Leong: So not only can Christians not use the word ‘Allah’ but they also cannot use Bahasa Malaysia as well? Is it Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Umno now?
Do the Christians even need to answer why the leaflets are printed in BM since they can legally and rightfully use our language?
Kangkung: Is Muafakat Malaysia secretary-general Abdul Karim Omar blind or unable to read the clearly printed 'warning', 'Penerbitan Agama Kristian' (Christian publication)?
Fabian Sim: If you write it in Mandarin, a non-Chinese speaking people won't be able to read it. If you write it in English, not everyone speaks English fluently. But BM, it's the national language, everyone should be able to read and write that. Logical?
So unless they have proof that the leaflets were handed to Malays/Muslims, get lost.
Aziz Kader: In Malaysia, the Malay language is for all communications no matter what race one is. All secondary schools use Malay for all races, therefore, the right language to use is Malay.
If the government policy changes so that the Malay language is just for Malays, then it would be different.
Luke: You ask all Malaysians to learn Malay as a compulsory subject in school, and now you want to restrict the use of Bahasa? I thought you want to widen the use of Bahasa? What is the logic? It is our national language, isn't it?
Now the national language suddenly belongs to Malays only? The national language belongs to all Malaysian including the Chinese and Indians.
For once, can you make up your mind whether the Malay language is our national language or not, or do you want to make a law to keep it for Malay only?
Where are we going with all these ridiculous issues? Please, enough is enough, take a look at the world out there and wake up, before we become a Taliban country.
Terjah Books and pamphlets on Islam are also published and written in English, Chinese, Tamil, Tagalog, etc, etc. So what's the issue here?
Doc: I wonder if a Muslim reads the English version of the Christian text 'All sufferings will end shortly', will he be apostatised?
Or does apostatisation only occur when a Muslim reads the Malay version ‘Semua penderitaan akan berakhir tidak lama lagi’. Care to elaborate, Isma?
Pputeh: When will these morons understand the language (Malay) does not belong to them, and neither does god.
Pisasu 7: Sometime these missionaries go overboard. I have come across many visiting homes and being insensitive to other religions.
Normally I would give them a lesson on my religion if they approach me. They are with the view that only their religion is the best.
Swipenter: Is there a problem with these "Christian" leaflets printed in Bahasa Malaysia, the national language? When it doesn't suit them, these leaflets printed in Bahasa Malaysia seem to be a big problem with these bigots. What are they trying to say?
They should instead go and insist that Malays/Muslims not to touch these leaflets even with a 10-foot pole. It is the Muslims' personal responsibility not to have anything to do with any other religion as it is an offence to do so in Bolehland.
Do not pass that responsibility to others. So even if these leaflets are printed in the national language, as Malay/Muslim, stay as far away as possible from them.
Likewise if a Malay/Muslim understands Mandarin and/or English it is his/her duty not read these "Christian" leaflets printed either in Mandarin/English or any language.
Proarte: If Muslims have been proselytised, then they have a right to make a police report. The police should investigate and charge the perpetrators accordingly. There is no need to imagine some kind of Christian conspiracy.
SenyumUnta: If Muslims are so easily converted and threatened by leaflets inside the country, then I suggest they don't go overseas. Even in the Gulf countries there are Christian Arabs practising their religion freely.
Leaflets do not forced you to be converted, but unlike in Sabah and Sarawak and in the Orang Asli areas, there are cases of those conned into signing Muslim conversion documents.
Anonymous_1388029052: In Sabah, Muslim missionaries are converting the poor Christians there in droves. Why is there not a squeak from all the Islamic champions?
Odin: Hey, what's the problem? Simply pass a law decreeing that all Christian matters in print and audio-video must use only the language spoken and written in Pluto.
Doc: The pamphlet says, 'All sufferings will end shortly'. Hmmm, I think Isma is worried this prophecy refers to BN and Umno soon being kicked out as the ruling government by the Malaysian people.
