Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and Selangor PKR chief Azmin Ali has agreed to not talk about the PKR deputy presidency race until after the Kajang by-election.
 
"You can ask me about anything, except the party elections," Khalid told reporters after the launch of the PKR election operations centre in Kajang today.
 
Last Friday, Khalid had made known his intentions to run for PKR deputy presidency, a position currently held by Azmin.
 
Azmin has been very critical of Khalid's performance as menteri besar since 2008 and has long been speculated to be eyeing the position for himself.
 
Khalid has never gotten himself too deep into a tiff with Azmin, at least until the latter was removed as a Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) director in January.
 
Despite the long frosty relationship, the duo appeared very cordial when they met at the function this evening.
 
Azmin himself had publicly stated last night that his current focus is the Kajang by-election. 
 
Azmin said as national election director, he was responsible to ensure the party’s machinery for the by-election moves smoothly.
 
“I have not made a decision yet, I want to focus on Kajang,” he told jounalists when met after a ceramah at Taman Saga Emas in Kajang last night.
 
Azmin appeared unfazed by the Khalid's challenge, stressing that anyone is free to contest for positions in PKR.
 
“In a democratic party, anyone can contest any position. But I would like to stress the focus today is to ensure Pakatan Rakyat and (PKR de facto leader) Anwar Ibrahim win in Kajang,” he said.
