MCA Kajang candidate Chew Mei Fun was spotted on the same stage with Negeri Sembilan Perkasa chief Ruslan Kassim recently, but for MCA deputy president it was no big deal.

"Ruslan was one of the PKR founders and information chief, this is how we remember him," Wee Ka Siong told a press conference in Kajang today.

According to blog Omakkau , Chew and Ruslan were at a national economic briefing session organised by Umno at Teratak Pekembar, Kampung Batu 10 in Cheras, on Feb 28.

Wee also urged Malaysiakini to realise that the event attended by Chew ( right ) and Ruslan was organised by Umno, and not Perkasa.

" Malaysiakini , please make it clear, she didn't go to (a function) organised by Perkasa and parties related to Perkasa," he said, adding the media shouldn't  have reported the rumours spread in Facebook.

A question on the incident was directed to Chew, who attended the press conference with MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, but Wee rushed to answer.

"The candidate went to ten places a day. When she arrived, she sat for two minutes, then went on stage to deliver her speech," he added.

'Name the Perkasa members'

Wee also challenged PKR, who had alleged the audience was mainly Perkasa members, to identify and name at least 60 of them. PKR would be seen as merely speaking nonsense if they failed to do so, he said.

Meanwhile, Chew felt the statement made by Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who campaigned for her recently, was more humorous than insulting.

Shahrizat (left) reportedly said many men were queueing up to marry Chew, but she would only find a husband after the poll.

Selangor state executive councillor Elizabeth Wong, had found such a remark disturbing and urged Chew to demand an apology from Shahrizat.

"First of all, there's nothing wrong for being single. It's not a sin," Chew responded when asked on Shahrizat's remark.

"She said it as a joke, simple as that. She didn't say, Mei Fun, it's wrong and sinful to remain single," the MCA leader said.

Chew also urged Wong and her allies to get DAP Taiping parliamentarian Nga Kor Ming to apologise to women in the country for his rather insulting tweet yesterday.

Nga had tweeted, "Fried beehun (Chew Mei Fun) yesterday posted herself as a sweeping aunty, today she held iron, it seems she wants interview as maid..."

Chided Chew: “Nga seems to hold himself as superior, and looks down on maids.”
