As anger mounts over the lack of information pertaining to the MAS flight which has been missing since Saturday morning, China has dispatched a team to Malaysia.

Among others, the team is tasked with “urging the Malaysian side to speed up the search and rescue mission”.

According to Xinhua news agency, China's Foreign Ministry said the group is composed of officers from the country's foreign, public security and transport ministries and Civil Aviation Administration.

It aims to coordinate with Chinese Embassy in Malaysia to handle the relevant issues, including urging the Malaysian side to speed up on the search and rescue mission, in investigating the incident and helping the family members already in Malaysia.

The MH 370 Boeing aircraft was bound for Beijing when contact was lost as it was flying over the Ho Chi Minh air traffic control area in Vietnam.

The flight was carrying 12 crew members and 227 passengers, including 154 Chinese nationals.

The head of the 13-member Chinese delegation, Guo Shaochun ( left ), said: "The most pressing and important work remains search and rescue.

"We will call on the Malaysian side and other foreign parties involved in the rescue work to work together with Chinese planes and ships, to intensify research and rescue efforts, strengthen coordination and not to give up," Geo said.

            

He also said the working group planned to coordinate with Malaysia and other countries to investigate the incident.

According to Guo, who is the deputy head of the Department of Consular Affairs with China's Foreign Ministry, some family members of passengers on board the missing flight will head for Malaysia with the arrangement of MAS.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Chinese warship Mianyang has arrived at the site where the plane went missing to assist in rescue operations.

It was quoting Xinhua , which claim the warship arrived three hours ahead of schedule at 3.50am Beijing time, according to military sources.
