YOURSAY ‘After ‘amok’, we have now enriched English further with ‘bomoh’.

'Satellites picked up pings from MH370'

Swipenter: Now the United States is focusing its search for the missing MH370 in the Indian Ocean. Why? Is there some new leads uncovered that they are not willing to divulge for whatever reason.

They are even deploying a state-of-the-art search and rescue (SAR) plane capable of detecting submarines under the ocean in normal war conditions to look for the missing MH370.

FairMind: The withholding of this new vital piece of information may be the biggest blunder yet by the Malaysian government.

The more I read about the endless blunders until now, the more convinced I am that it wasn't so much that the information was of military/security sensitivity that led to the delay or releasing of information.

It may be more that these so-called Malaysian experts are out of their depth over the technical data/information as well as sheer inefficiency.

You might recall that acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein only released on the fifth day the vital information that a blip was caught on its primary (military) radar, and the Air Force chief revealed that the analysis wasn't done real time which probably meant that the military personnel might have slept through the whole incident the first night.

It was the same thing about the delay in the photos of the holders of false passports and many other instances. I think embarrassment through lack of knowledge and sheer inefficiency is the cause of these delays.

FellowMalaysian: Hishammuddin disputed claims yesterday that the plane could have flown for hours after losing contact.

At the same time, he has now authorised the search to be extended to the Indian Ocean and Nicobar Islands, which are way beyond its earlier search areas. What gives?

Abasir: While the ability of the Americans to eavesdrop and pick up a 'ping' anywhere may take us somewhere in this quest, Malaysia is still trying to overcome the 'pong' left behind by the His Holiness Dato Bomoh 1Malaysia Sedunia D'Raja VIP Nujum and his entourage who reportedly have graced many Umno events.

The latest, I've read is that he is planning to sue anyone who says his performance was not Islamic.

On a side note, it should be noted that Malaysia's contribution to the English language has gone up by 100 percent. The first word, as many would know, was 'amok'. We have now enriched it further with 'bomoh'. The English-speaking world should be grateful.

Yellow Pages: “The pattern here is that the best information is not being immediately presented to the smartest people around who could look at it,” said Steven B Wallace, former director of the Federal Aviation Administration.

Anonymous_4031: Another hazy situation: why did the speaker of the Dewan Rakyat shoot down the debate on the missing MH370? Was he ordered to do so by the embarrassed leaders?

To add further embarrassment, bomohs were called in with their coconuts. It must be a ‘coconut-headed’ man who asked the bomoh to search for the plane.

I was speechless when the House speaker refused debate on a matter which is of "urgent, important and of public interest". Are the 239 lives “not urgent, not important and not of public interest”?

Solaris: That's what they mean by penny wise, pound foolish. So much of money spent on renovating and expanding the Golden Lounge at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). For what or for whom - the rich and the famous?

Radar data suggests MH370 flew towards Andamans

Ratbatblue: So now, if this latest information is to be relied upon, the possibilities are endless. After leaving the waypoint ‘Igres’, the route could be changed any way the person flying the craft chose.

This could go on and on until the plane ran out of fuel. By now, if that were the case, the plane should have landed or would have ditched in the open sea, which would make the task of finding it a gigantic one.

Perhaps, the focus should now shift to the Indian Ocean side of things. The experts who have put forth this possibility should make it widely known that the relevant authorities have been informed of this, and any attempt to play this down was tantamount to covering up.

Too much time has been wasted, and minute for minute the chances of survival of the passengers and crew are being proportionately reduced.

Magnus: How very convenient for all the stupid and/or the incompetents out there if it was a "hijack" or "sabotage" instead of a mechanical failure so they can pass that hot potato liability from their hands to those red herring hijackers and saboteur larks.

Well, we will know soon as no one can cover up this tragedy any more. The international free press will not allow that to happen.

Headhunter: They seem to go round in circles. All the evidence so far doesn't fit into any particular pattern. And who's in charge anyway?
