Chua: Pakatan's criticisms won't help find MH370

Former MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek has challenged Pakatan Rakyat to either stop politicising the MH370 crisis or find the missing aircraft themselves.

"If Pakatan feels that they can do better and resolve this tragedy better than the government, then I challenge them to find MH370 that is still can’t be found despite the efforts of 26 countries equipped with the latest technologies.

"Slander and accusations to humiliate and tarnish the nation’s image must stop, whether from home or abroad," he said in a press release today.

The Boeing 777-200ER aircraft has been missing since March 8 along with 239 on board and is believed to have crashed in the Southern Indian Ocean.

Yesterday, Malaysia announced that it has found 122 pieces of suspected debris in images of the region taken by a French commercial satellite, while Thailand announced today that it has found 300 pieces in another area of the ocean.

To date however, none of the satellite sightings including three previous sightings have been recovered for confirmation whether it is related to MH370, despite a multinational search effort.

Chua added that tragedy was unexpected and the government is already doing all it can to handle the crisis.

He also urged all Malaysians to defend the country from hostile coverage by foreign media, whom he accuses of launching "blind attacks" against the government and insinuating that Malaysian Muslims are terrorists.

"Malaysians are free to have different political ideologies, but when national image and sovereignty is threated by baseless attacks from outsiders, it is our duty to unite and give undivided support for our country," he said.

In his statement, Chua also urged the so-called "Red Bean Army" to stop politicising the issue, saying that it is disrespectful to the victims of the tragedy and their family.

The Red Bean Army is an alleged DAP-linked online propaganda unit. The party has denied any knowledge of it and no concrete evidence of its existence has ever been presented.
