PM's farfetched theory on Sabah abductions

YOURSAY ‘If it is to 'sour ties' with the Chinese, why take the Filipina as well.’

PM: Abduction may be a deliberate act to sour ties

Aries46: PM Najib Razak seems more concerned about the motives for the kidnapping than the fate of the victims, the identity of their captors or their whereabouts.

And his theory sounds a bit farfetched. If it is to 'sour ties' with the Chinese, why take the Filipina who is after all an employee of the resort?

Those engaged in anti-national activities or elements that would really go to the extent of sabotaging the Malaysian government or  antagonise its relations with the Chinese would more likely be an organised extremist outfit that could do more harm than to merely kidnap a lone tourist to achieve their objective.

After all, a similar incident had taken place previously in one other seaside resort in Sabah where one of the victims was shot dead. What was the motive then?

And why would anyone need to commit a crime in far off Sabah to tarnish the BN regime when its leaders are already doing a splendid job on their own?

Southpaw: Najib, stop diverting from the issue. The main issue is the effectiveness of Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom). We have deployed many troops and war machines to the zone and what has come out of it?

The threat has always been there so don't try to fool us. Why select an immigration officer to head the command of Esscom when Esscom itself is essentially a military solution to the threat?

Odin: The possibility of a party staging the kidnap to drive a wedge between Malaysia and China is just one possibility, Najib.

The possibilities are endless, for, remember, Malaysia is The Land of Endless Possibilities. There are endless other possibilities such as:

1) the security forces under Esscom were sleeping on their job;

2) much of the some RM286 million allocated to strengthen Esscom has gone into some politicians' bank accounts. So, there are insufficient men and equipment to maintain security in the area;

3) the kidnapping was a reality TV show. A remote-controlled, self-propelled, miniature TV camera was capturing the action, but the guests at the resort were all too shocked and frightened out of their wits to have noticed the little thingy moving in the air in and outside the room;

4) the kidnappers are great fans of opposition leaders Anwar Ibrahim and Karpal Singh, and they did it to show their displeasure at how these two have been treated and thus put you and your government as well as the judiciary in a negative light; and

5) the kidnappers are actually aliens assuming human form. They have abducted the two specimens of the human race to take back to their planet to study, conduct experiments on, and finally put in a zoo.

Remember, these are only a few possibilities; there are endless others.

Kanasai: This shows the inability of the police and the Special Branch to prevent repeated kidnappings. Previously, there was also a Taiwanese woman kidnapped .

Don't blame others, Najib, remove those incompetent ministers and enforcement chiefs. Have the guts to take action, stop unnecessary politics and start doing some productive work.

Fernz: Where is the security promised to Sabah and Sarawak by the the Malayans and the British via the 1963 Federation?

Putrajaya has been playing footsie with the terrorists in southern Philippines - also in south Thailand - and looking the other way as the illegals flooded in and even entered the electoral rolls.

The kidnappings are a way for the terrorists to continue blackmailing Putrajaya. Putrajaya should wipe out the safe havens maintained by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and Abu Sayaff in Sabah.

This should be the first task of East Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) and Esscom. Putrajaya should also commit itself, as a member of the United Nations, to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Philippines and Thailand.

Myop101: Whatever the motive, shouldn't the police be there to ensure security and peace be maintained at all time?

When a plane can fly in and out of the country without our Air Force personnel scrambling to stop them on the pretext that plane is a commercial aircraft is enough reason for would be opportunistic robbers and kidnappers to come to Malaysia to ply their 'trade'.

Fair and Open: The facts are simple.

1) Our security forces are sleeping on the job.

2) The PM pretends this is not true

3) He finds some silly reasons.

4) Nobody is responsible.

5) Security forces continue to sleep on the job.

6) Another case happens.

7) PM or other ministers utter some silly excuse, again.

This is Malaysia.

Single Malt: Irrespective of the motive, why the security lapse? This is what people are worried about and you are expected as the PM of the country to give a proper answer.

Soo Jin Hou: If that's all you can say, you can forget about the entire Chinese market for Visit Malaysia Year 2014.

Najib, the point is security, or lack of it
