The Johor Islamic Affairs Department (JAJ) is investigating a Muslim man's complaint that the volume of the azan in his Pasir Gudang residential area is so loud that it disturbs his sleep.
According to Berita Harian , the 56-year-old factory worker lodged a complaint with the Johor Islamic Affairs Office and Pasir Gudang Local Council, as well as met with the mosque committee before lodging a report with the police.
Confirming the matter, Johor Islamic Affairs Council (Maij) adviser Noh Gadut was quoted as saying that JAJ has initiated an investigation.
"We did receive the report. However, we will assume the best and wait for JAJ's report before any action," Noh is quoted as saying.
In his police report, widely circulated on the social media, the man said the azan broadcast on loudspeaker from the local mosque for dawn prayers was too loud for comfort.
