Law of the jungle rules in custody battle

YOURSAY ‘What if the mother now decides to ‘kidnap’ the son by force?’

Zahid backs IGP's refusal to act in Deepa's case

Those Idiots: After numerous incidents that had taken place in Malaysia lately and the actions and inaction by the overly incompetent Najib Razak's administration, I can safely conclude that:

1. Assault is tolerable.

2. Kidnapping is encouraged, sodomy is a crime only to certain groups.

3. Public slapping with monetary reward is permissible.

4. National sovereignty is a non-issue.

5. Border control are for non-Muslims only.

6. Just mention Najib's name, and you can buy chicken for RM1.

7. If you are caught with your hand in a cookie jar, you will be rewarded with an even bigger jar of cookies along with a glass of milk.

Milosevic: This is a cowardly position, but consistent with the moral bankruptcy of Umno and Malaysia's governance system.

The home minister advises S Deepa, who routinely gets battered and abused by her ex-husband, "to talk" to him.

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has come up with a new approach to criminal justice - talk to your abuser. Talk to muggers, kidnappers, murderers. How innovative!

What is sad is not the disgusting approach of the IGP (inspector-general of police) and the home minister in tolerating unacceptable behaviour but the very shaming of Islam as a religion in Malaysia.

Umno as an corrupt and unethical party, needs a moral camouflage, but the party is telling the world that Malaysia’s Islam has no basic sense of compassion.

Its religious system is bigoted, absorbs religious officials who have no intellectual or deeper ethical perspectives on life and promotes bullies who obsessively intimidate other religions.

Muhibbah: Zahid contradicts and undermines every statement Najib made. Najib seems to be helpless to do anything about it. Indeed, Zahid knows what he said is utter rubbish.

Tholu: I am beginning to wonder whether our government politicians and officials and Islam-based NGOs are living in modern times with well developed and advanced brain capacity and capability and progressing in tandem with fast changing social, economic and political trends in the world or getting mentally retarded and regressing.

Kok Wee Kiat: Is Zahid advocating lawlessness? What if the mother now decides to "kidnap" the son by force, justified by the civil court order? If everyone takes matters in their own hands, we are back to the law of the jungle in no time.

FellowMalaysian: Two sets of differing court orders has been cruelly inflicted upon the innocent and suffering children of the ex-couple in their tussle to claim custody of them when one parent chose to deflect his marital responsibilities by becoming a Muslim.

Yet the IGP, and now the home minister, have weighed in their stand both citing in favour of the father and in the process, has totally and deliberately ignored the process of civil court orders in which the father has just so viciously violated its orders right in the eyes of the two enforcers of laws in the country.

The IGP and home minister owe the mother and the public at large a plausible and sensible explanation as to why they have so unequivocally, emphatically and unilaterally chosen to ignore the rulings of civil court orders in which both parties are supposed to be its guardian and protector.

Hasn't their undivided stand just made a mockery of the court order and also made a fool of themselves?

Cry, My Beloved Country: Was there not a luminary who claimed that an offer of a monetary reward for a slap was not an offence?

How very helpful luminaries are, how unashamedly ignorant, and desperately partisan, vainly touting moderation for some measure of respectability and credibility.

Takeiteasy: Zahid, the power you have now is by virtue of your government position. One day you will become like any ordinary citizen again. Then you will look back to see if you have contributed to the well-being of all Malaysians or just to get popularity and votes of your Umno members.

Your style of leadership will not last and you may step down sooner than you think.

Corgito Ergo Sum: If this is the official stance, then you have made it clear that you are officially devoid of any intellect.

You need not have a law degree to know that assault and battery is an offence in both syariah and civil law.

I think the nation has come to a crossroad and failed to take the right turning. It has been run over by a runaway truck filled with bigots, racists and the intellectually challenged.

Patriot1: Now, I can fully comprehend why Malaysia is in such a pathetic state of lawlessness.

Zahid has forgotten cabinet decision on conversion
