Selangor residents have been up in arms over water rationing in the state but former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad is unperturbed.

Speaking to reporters today, the 87-year-old doctor-turned-politician said the water disruption has not adversely affected his lifestyle since he received enough essential water supply.

"Off and on but not too bad-lah,” Mahathir said when asked if his residence in Sri Kembangan was subjected to water cuts.

"People have been kind to me, you see... 'cause I did get some water. I can bathe," he added.

Many Selangorians had to make do with scheduled water cuts over last two months as raw water at  major dams such as Sungai Selangor in Kuala Kubu Baru saw levels ease to near critical level.

However, Selangor Mentri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today announced an end to the rationing exercise.

The dam water levels have started to rise last week after light rain and pumping of water from disused mines as an alternative source.

Selangor’s quick response follows Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin charging that Pakatan-ran Selangor was to blame for mismanagement.

But perhaps the angriest respond from a politician was from Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi, who last week wrote that Selangor should “sack the bugger” in a Facebook posting, referring to MB Khalid.

Ooi, who is from Penang, complained that his visits to KL were unpleasant as he had to ‘mandi kerbau’ - bath in a hurry like a buffalo due to lack of water to even run a proper shower.
