Gerakan deputy president Cheah Soon Hai has complained at the  apparent lack of action against right-wing group,Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma), despite its racially inflammatory statements.

"I would like to know why no action has been taken despite countless police reports made against Isma for labelling the Chinese as trespassers.

" In the meantime... Isma came out with another statement saying that a political party is capable of engineering a repeat of the May 13 incident," Cheah lamented in a statement today.

On May 7, police had said it was investigating Isma chief Abdullah Zaik Abdullah Rahman for sedition, a day after he accused Chinese Malaysians of being intruders in the country.

However, an unrepentant Isma yesterday again courted controversy by raising the spectre of race riots similar to that of 1969, saying that the DAP would be responsible for it.

Cheah said Isma's statements were considered hate speeches and attempts to sow seeds of distrust among the multi-racial community in Malaysia.

He added that Chinese and Indians in Malaysia are descendants of several generations of immigrants who have now assimilated into the country and should not be told to return to China or India.

He added the contribution of all communities should be properly reflected in the country's history books instead of being mono-ethnic.

“Our history subject should be telling the truth that various races have indeed contributed to the formation and development of Malaysia today," he said.
