Zaid torches 'hypocrite' Najib for fuelling fire

Azhar: Actually, there is no need to talk about "perceived" threats. If there is really any, just zero in on it and take the required action.

The truth of the matter is that the real enemies of Islam are within. No need to point a finger at others.

Muslims need to open up, mix with others, read and think. We need to break free of political Islam and discover for ourselves the true beauty of the religion.

Appum: PM Najib Razak, we’re awaiting your response, sir. Are you going to sue former law minister Zaid Ibrahim?

Zaid is no ordinary Joe like the commenters in Malaysiakini. Here is a man of some stature and he's not mincing his words.

Sue him and let him open the Pandora’s Box. Most people know what Zaid said is true. Perhaps you can tell us otherwise?

Oriole: Thank you, Zaid Ibrahim, for speaking clearly and plainly to describe the hypocrisy of the Najib administration. And as for Sports and Youth Minister Khairy Jamaluddin - the fellow from the 4th floor has become a glorified lackey.

Fair Play: Zaid, honestly I can't read you. You go from hero to zero and then back to hero again - like in this one. This is probably one of your most incisive comments about the PM.

Jessy43: Hats off to you, sir! Your words reflect what we think and feel. However, I doubt the Felda settlers and others in rural areas will ever realise the truth.

It is of utmost importance to Najib and Umno to keep them in the dark. One easy way is to ensure they are weak in English so that they are unable to read much about the goings-on in the country and the world.

They will only read Utusan Malaysia - that way it’s easier to manage them and to make them do what the government wants in the name of race and religion.

CQ Muar: Well done, Zaid Ibrahim for not mincing your words on the 'flamboyant' Malaysian prime minister. Your open criticism and calling a spade a spade couldn't be better expressed.

You'd open up wounds our PM may not tolerate - indeed, a bitter pill for him to swallow.

In any case, be forewarned as Najib is now on a warpath against those who 'defame' and 'demoralise' him, as in the case of Malaysiakini , wherein legal proceedings could be initiated.

Swipenter: "Do as I say not do as I do." That is always their maxim.

Only those who live in rural Malaysia with no access to information and those deluding themselves that our top politicians are God-fearing humans deny that the latter are manufacturing external enemies for the Malays and Islam for their consumption.

These kinds of misinformation and propaganda have been the stable diet for the Malays for decades.

As the Malays rapidly urbanised, they get to see the real Malaysians as they are - that ordinary Malaysians whether they are Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans, Dayaks, Kadazans, etc, are slogging and struggling to feed their families and give their children and education and get to see the corruption, wastage, leakages, oppression and mismanagement under the Umno Baru-BN government.

Cry, My Beloved Country: Zaid, your observations are spot on. At such a critical time that our beloved country is going through, we need a passionate voice like yours to restore the country to the peace and harmony of bygone years.

Given Perkasa, Isma, Utusan , and their likes, the country needs you and people like Abdul Aziz Bari, the Islamic Renaissance Front, the Sisters of Islam to come out vocally, and with your clarity, for the necessary checks and balances that will constrain the rabid racism and religious bigotry that are driving the country and its peace-loving people apart.

You can speak with an authority and a standing that ordinary Malaysians do not have, an authority and standing that cannot be ignored by the people in power. My appeal to you - do not let us and the country down in this hour.

Commentable: It appears very much like Zaid has set the bonfire to torch the PM's career and let's see how many the likes of Khairy are willing to carry buckets of water to extinguish the fire.

Headhunter: Wow, I thought Zaid’s political career was finished after he left PKR. But lately, he's seems to choose a new role as a political commentator and he is firing on all four cylinders.

He hits the nail hard on the head and who could disagree with what he said? I hope he continue to speak up on behalf of all of us.

We certainly need a strong voice to send a message to the corrupt regime that we have enough of their crooked ways. Way to go man!

Anonymous_3faa: The Congress Party of India, which has been in government for decades, was soundly trashed by the opposition BJP in the just concluded Indian elections.

Like the Umno government, the Congress Party was corrupt and incompetent. Time for a government change here too.

All the signs are there of a government in retreat - massive endemic corruption, incompetent ministers, increasing religious and racial intolerance, compromised judiciary, increasing persecution of the opposition, and finally, a PM who is MIA (missing in action) while Malaysia ‘burns’.

Meow: Dear Zaid, thank for the statement. I hope all Umno leaders understand your message... if they could think wisely.
