BUKIT GELUGOR Independent Bukit Gelugor candidate Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohd Nabi Sathar claims that "secretly" DAP backs PAS' proposal for the hudud law in Kelantan, despite openly opposing it.

Nabi Bux said that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng (below) is backing hudud behind closed doors to win over the hearts of PAS leaders.

"I am made to understand that Lim secretly gave full support to the implementation of hudud in Kelantan," he said at a press conference during his campaign in Taman Tun Sardon today.

Asked if Lim had told him this himself, Nabi Bux said: "No, he told PAS leaders".

This follows PAS' decision to put on hold its plan to table a Private Member's Bill in Parliament on to pave the way for the hudud in Kelantan, so as to first discuss it in the federal government's technical committee.

 

Nabi Bux said that he arrived to the conclusion that DAP secretly supports the hudud as Lim had never truly opposed the implementation of hudud in Malaysia.

When told that Lim had openly rejected it, he shot back: "That is what he says publicly, in secret he supports hudud 100 percent for political interest".

'Ramkarpal can't speak for DAP'

The retiree also chided his opponent, DAP's Ramkarpal Singh, by saying that Ramkarpal has no right to speak against hudud on the party's behalf as he has no position in the party.

"His candidacy and membership in DAP is also being questioned by party members," he said.

"Lim's support and views on hudud is important. Ramkarpal's views on hudud is not important," he stressed.

Nabi Bux (right) said Ramkarpal is merely an ordinary member, just like how he is purportedly a PAS member, despite PAS denying this.

He said that he does not understand why PAS leaders are "stammering" when he uses 'Hudud in Penang in 2020' as his campaign theme.

"They (PAS) are against hudud in Penang," Nabi Bux quipped.

"But when Ramkarpal rejects hudud in Penang, they agree, while PAS leaders are the one who started the hudud issue in Kelantan," he recalled.

"Is it wrong for me to bring the same hudud law to Penang in 2020?" he asked.

Asked if his campaign on the hudud is scaring Chinese voters, he stressed that it does not mean that the hudud will be implemented in Penang immediately, but in the year 2020.

"By that time, I may not be here. Someone else will take my place, you understand?"

"As they said when one Osama bin Laden dies, 10 will come. So God willing, I will start the struggle now. Hopefully 10 more will come by 2020," he added.

Nabi Bux also said he will make Bukit Gelugor his home if he is successful in obtaining the votes of PAS, Umno and other component party members.

He vowed to open a service centre so that the rakyat can visit him and ask for his assistance.

"Don't be shy or scared to meet me. I am an open minded man and we can meet anytime," he said.

He also responded to PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar who said although party records show otherwise, if Nabi Bux insists he is a PAS member then he should back Ramkarpal (left) .

"So he is asking me to tell all Muslims and PAS members to support Ramkarpal? How can I support him? I am also the opponent...I will continue to fight for Islam" he replied.

He said he also welcomes threats that he will be faced to the PAS disciplinary board for contesting the seat if he is indeed a party member.

He also claimed that PAS members, some who are in the corporate world, and some from Kedah, are supporting his election campaign.

The seat fell vacant on Apr 17 when its MP Karpal Singh died in a car crash in Perak, after winning the seat thrice since 2004.

Nabi Bux is up a against Karpal's third son, Parti Cinta Malaysia's Huan Cheng Guan and another Independent candidate Abu Backer Sidek Mohd Zan. Polling day is on May 25.
