AUDIT REPORT The Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) was found to have made payments in excess of RM65,070 for public address system equipment for Dewan Tun Ali, Bukit Katil, in Malacca.

    

According to the second series of the 2013 Auditor-General's Report, the equipment was obtained at a cost of RM123,070 when the market price was only RM58,000.         

They included 12 units of JBL JRX-115 15” two-way full-range speakers which were purchased at a total price of RM37,200 when the market price was only RM15,600.

    

Four units of JBL JRX-118S 18” subwoofer bass bins were obtained at a price of RM19,120 when the market price was RM8,400, while three units of Yamaha P-7000S power amplifiers were obtained at a cost of RM14,400 when the market price was RM7,800.     

"The auditors compared the acquisition costs with the market price of the equipment in the companies supplying the same things and found they were between 135.3 and 272.7 percent higher than the market price," the report, which was presented in Parliament today, said.

   

The report stated that in July 2013, MPHTJ offered the public address system and soundproofed walls in the hall costing RM490,000 in a tender to the Colleague Enterprise company.

   

"The auditors found no evidence that a market survey was conducted by the MPHTJ," it said.

   

The audit also found that the public address system equipment was not registered in the asset registry.
