Bigger cabinet doesn't necessarily mean better

YOURSAY ‘The bloated cabinet is totally unnecessary and a big burden.'

Liow, Mah made ministers, status quo for Umno

Ramakrishnan: The new Indian government with 814 million voters appointed 23 full ministers and 22 deputy ministers but Malaysian prime minister with 12 million voters appoints 35 full ministers and 28 deputy ministers.

When debts are high, budget deficit chronic, current surplus shrinking, the bloated cabinet is totally unnecessary and a big burden on the coffers. A clear sign of appeasement and desperation.

Pputeh: Here's the solution to saving money. Why waste so much on general elections when defeated people are brought into the cabinet by being appointed senators, then ministers.

Henceforth only have one referendum/election for the post of prime minister and the one who wins can appoint his cabinet from anyone who he so chooses. This way save us the rakyat the hogwash of elections and expenses incurred.

Not Smart: Whatever shuffle or reshuffle is made, the cards in the deck are still the same. Hence, whichever way it goes, the end results will remain the same.

The problem is not with the deck but the cards. If not all, most of the cards must be changed.

Doc: Does that mean any future matters pertaining to the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 will be referred to MCA president, and newly-named Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai.

Last I heard, this man cannot speak English for nuts. Then again, to be a BN minister,  brains and intellect are not the most import criteria.

Samuel Ng: Big, bigger, biggest number of cabinet ministers does not equal to good, better, best. Instead, the opposite may be true.

Isana: Adding more products with short shelf life will not bring more customers to a badly run supermarket. Next GE, sure tutup kedai (close shop).

Banzai: What's the point of having so many ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department? Might as well make them ministers without portfolio.

Just wasting public funds to fund these ministers. At least MIC has two ministers with functions. Shame on you, MCA and Gerakan.

Wrath of Altantuya: MCA should have stuck to their pledge not to accept cabinet posts after their massacre in GE13. By accepting, they have plunged to Umno's level. What a disgrace to the Chinese.

Mondou_Otogod: Despite being rejected by majority of Chinese community, Umno still takes them in the cabinet and gives them ministerial and deputy ministerial posts.

P Dev Anand Pillai: This may be the only democracy in the world where you may lose in a general election but may still be appointed to the cabinet that governs the nation.

So indirectly the government of the day is telling the people that they don't give a damn to the election results or to the wishes of the people, they appoint any one they feel will be useful. That is what that matters here. They just don't give a damn.

Gunner: The only government in the world with too many ministers, not to count some personalities appointed as special officers with ministerial status. What a waste.

Jaded: More heads to feed. Who is paying for the perks and salaries? The rakyat. Any positive results? Nil.

Ksn: With the MCA now again in the cabinet which is the government proper, the Chinese in Malaysia, citizens no doubt termed as “ intruders ”, have nothing to worry about.

Their interests, welfare, etc, will be fully taken care of if the past 50 years of MCA's performance in the government is anything to go by.

So “intruders”, please relax and give your full support to MCA. The next GE is only two or three years away.

CNHT: This is another puppet show, and changing the puppet won't change the story. The same old boring story again and again and again. Pity the audience, the people.

Chris Wong: What do ministers in the Prime Minister's Department do? Why are we making people senators such that un-elected officials and those rejected by their constituents get into government to make decisions for the whole of Malaysia?

Why are people despised by not just their communities but the majority of Malaysians, made ministers in an already large and useless cabinet?

Joe Lee: This is a very obese cabinet, just like how Malaysians are the most obese in Southeast Asia. But running dogs love the feasting, especially when it's taxpayers' money that they are spending.

Ranjit Singh: BN is going in circles. Six representing five percent of Chinese supporters for BN in West Malaysia. East Malaysian should have been given more importance for BN to be in power.

Wg321: All these new MCA and Gerakan ministers may not last long in the cabinet if they don’t vote for the implementation of hudud laws in Kelantan this coming September.

Umno has made a policy decision to support and vote for the implementation of hudud laws in the coming session of Parliament in September.

Everybody is watching with great interest how these MCA and Gerakan anti-hudud crusaders going to vote. Najib is not going to give them a free lunch. There is no need for the MCA president Liow Tiong Lai to thank Najib.

Mosquitobrain: To all the these ministers, in or out of the cabinet makes no different. I call it window dressing only. Nice to see, nice to look but all fake. All the ministers will continue to wag their tails, kowtow and take instructions from their master, Umno.

PM Najib has put the last piece of puzzle in place. Now, let the circus begin.

John Goh T C: This is not cabinet reshuffle. This is a cabinet inflation.
