Zam takes the baton, his turn to bash Christians

YOURSAY ‘When one is knocked out due to 'overexposure', another takes his place.’

Zam blasts 'Christian extremists-linked' daily

Lamborghini: As a former information minister, Zainuddin Maidin or Zam is being totally irresponsible in sowing misinformation and falsehoods and unfounded accusations, this time aimed at Christians.

If he is a man of substance and honour, he should name this "extreme and dangerous Christian denomination" and ask the police to investigate instead of hiding behind innuendos. This is shameful and unbecoming of an ex-cabinet minister.

Anon1: It looks like with Perkasa and Isma now on silent mode, Zam has been tasked with continuing the racial stoking.

Malaccan: MCA leaders know which side their bread is buttered and members should realise the party is expendable.

As expected, top leaders of MCA have remained elegantly silent. At least PM Najib Abdul Razak has been able to teach his pet poodles his tricks. Instead MCA despatched Ti Lian Ker to speak , but instead of a growl, it was a whimper.

Now Zam is administering a tight slap to MCA by attacking its mouthpiece, The Star . He called The Star a Christian extremist-linked organisation, not caring that such an accusation is far-fetched.

Of course, Zam is not trying to win any prizes for honesty. Just who does Zam think is a Christian extremist in The Star ? What does one look like or do? Is this individual anything like extremists such as Harussani Zakaria, Hasan Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Zul or Ridhuan Tee Abdullah?

Fair Play: One thing that is most predictable among these ‘ketuanan Umno’ Malays is this. They are adept at playing the game of musical chairs.

Their modus operandi is akin to a relay race - with one passing the baton to the next one to continue the relay that doesn't seem to end.

When one is knocked out due to 'overexposure', another one would take his or her place. And the flavour of the week is Zam.

I’m just counting the days when he would be 'knocked out' and join the ranks of the also-rans such as Zulkifli Noordin, Isma, Perkasa, Ridhuan Tee, former chief justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad, Utusan Malaysia , etc.

Most interesting would be his likely 'successor', it’s more than likely to be someone re-cycled from among the also-rans.

Turvy: Here it comes again, the new seeds of suspicion to divide the people. Politicians are becoming more and more dangerous because they will stop at nothing to get what they want.

What they want is to grab for themselves the wealth that belongs to the nation. They have become the ‘pagar’ eating the ‘padi’.

NewMalaysia: Zam, very simple - BN and Umno should declare that from now on they will reject all Christian votes, especially those from East Malaysia. Dare or not?

Mohd Zaidi Abdullah: Why is Malaysiakini is giving coverage to the people that are being ignored by most Malaysians?

Rat-a-tat: I agree fully with Mohd Zaidi Abdullah's comments. Here is someone who has long outlived his usefulness.

Zam, who is well known for his horrendous English when he was information minister and became famous (a laughing stock) for his interview with Al-Jazeera during the 2007 Bersih rally, certainly has blinkered views.

If he has his way, The Star must be a mirror image of Utusan - the very newspaper he had led to become quick in labelling everyone else racists except themselves.

Not too long ago, he used to label New Straits Times as not supportive of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's government and not in sync with the BN agenda, especially Umno. Yet when he lost his Sungai Petani seat in the 12th general election (GE12), he blamed it totally on Abdullah.

No one should listen to this man.

Baiyuensheng: Keep up the good work, Zam. I mean it. The good out of this will be an alliance and consolidation of moderates.

Gerard Lourdesamy: Firstly, Zam should learn how to speak in good English before he gives interviews to the foreign media. His last performance on Al-Jazeera still causes nightmares to most of us.

Secondly, The Star is a pathetic excuse for a newspaper. If the MCA wants to regain the confidence of the Chinese voters it should allow The Star’s editorial board to have complete freedom, like the Chinese vernacular press, in the interest of democracy and a free press.

Thirdly, at least The Star despite its benign and staid reporting does not pander to race and religion unlike the Umno-controlled Malay press that thrives on it.

Lastly, the ‘extremist Christian’ conspiracy theories belong to a different age, Zam must be emulating the China’s communists who incidentally banned the Ramadan mandatory fast for Muslims yesterday.

It’s very odd that Umno, Perkasa, Isma, Pekida and all the other members of the cabal of Malay/Muslim NGOs are keeping quiet and not defending their Muslim brothers in China and protect the sanctity of Islam.

Relevancy: Once, there were 'friendly' cannons to the left, 'friendly' cannons to the right, 'friendly' cannons to the front and 'friendly' cannons to the rear.

But now they ride together into the valley of death with plentiful of 'friendlies' training their guns on them.
