A pro-Umno website has claimed that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and embattled Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim held a closed-door meeting after breaking fast together yesterday.

Quoting a source, an article published on MyKmu.net says the meeting took place in a room at the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah mosque in Bukit Jelutong.

However, there was no information as to what was discussed during the meeting, which was held after the Tarawih prayers.

"Only the two of them would know what was discussed during that meeting," MyKmu.net said.

However, Khalid's press secretary Arfa'eza Abdul Aziz denied that a secret meeting took place.

She said the menteri besar received an invitation to attend the event because it was held in Selangor.

"It was a normal buka puasa function atttended by other state officials including the Selangor mufti and there was no secret meeting," she told Malaysiakini.

Also present at the event were the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor and chairperson of the Selangor Federal Action Council Noh Omar.

The function saw the attendance of some 2,000 people.

Perhaps in the past, the MyKmu.net article stated that it would not have seemed odd to see the MB and PM breaking fast together and being engrossed in a conversation.

"But for most Selangor people who are tired of the problems in PKR, they would have seen this development as having a huge hidden meaning," it added.

Nik Nazmi: Nothing wrong with meeting PM

The website also questioned if PKR would take action against Khalid for breaking fast with Najib.

"Who knows, perhaps after Hari Raya, disciplinary action will be taken against Khalid or he may be sacked on the grounds of breaking fast with the PM without the knowledge of the party's top leadership," it adds.

Noting that there has been no response from PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim on this matter, the article stated that perhaps the party leaders were stunned and chose to ignore it in order not to worsen the crisis in Selangor.

Meanwhile, Seri Setia assemblyperson Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad ( right ) downplayed the meeting, saying even Anwar once had teh-tarik with Najib.

"He is the MB of Selangor right? Don’t tell me he cannot meet the PM," he said.

"I too am good friends with many in Umno," he added.

Last night, national news agency Bernama reported that Khalid, who is facing pressure to relinquish his post of menteri besar, received a "morale booster" from Najib.

The prime minister admitted that he and Khalid could work together, despite their differing political ideologies.

"Although there are differences, we can cooperate in many other areas. This (Khalid's presence) is a good sign, I believe," Najib said.
