Mujahid: Pakatan still Malaysia's best option
Mujahid Yusof Rawa believes that the Pakatan Rakyat coalition is still the best platform for the continuation of mature politics.
Mujahid Yusof Rawa believes that the Pakatan Rakyat coalition is still the best platform for the continuation of mature politics.
The PAS Parit Buntar MP also stressed that mature politics is badly needed for change in the country, in the journey leading to new politics.
Admitting, however, that Pakatan has some problems in carrying out this ambition, Mujahid said he could not imagine a Malaysia without Pakatan Rakyat.
“I cannot imagine what will happen to the dream of new politics if Pakatan were to split and cease to exist from the country’s political arena,” he said in a statement today.
Mujahid further pointed out how Malaysian politics had never seen any change before the arrival of Pakatan on the scene.
“Voters no longer vote for a candidate based on his or her race, but based on excellent manifestos,” he said.
'Pakatan has demolished the racial wall'
He also claimed that the racial wall has been “demolished”, where all races today view the country’s interests and its future as more important than the racist and corrupt politics that is like a “cancer” to the country.
“Pakatan has successfully produced a generation of leaders who have opened the people’s minds in carrying out politics based on policies and not sentiments."
He then urged all Pakatan leaders to safeguard the trust given by the rakyat.
“You should always defend the rakyat instead of fighting with one other,” Mujahid stressed.
The possibility of a break-up of the Pakatan coalition arose when PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang expressed his support for Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to continue as the Selangor menteri besar.
On Monday last week, a WhatsApp conversation among PAS leaders, in which central committee member Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki drew a scenario of the Islamist party working with Umno to keep Khalid as the menteri besar, was leaked on the social media.
