Nudists furore much ado about nothing

YOURSAY ‘Adam and Eve did not wear any clothes until Adam met Eve.’

Umno rep: Patrolman may have been threatened

TehTarik: This is probably the greatest threat to our national security since independence. The moral fabric of the nation which was at the highest level, has been destroyed by the repugnant behaviour of these nudists.

Our morality which we have taken years to build through the tireless efforts of our leaders has crumbled by such brazen display of nudity.

We have become the laughing stock of the pious and deeply religious half of the world. The full weight of the law should be thrown against the culprits. The innocence of our pious nation has been lost.

Well Thats Fantastic: I will never understand how it is that police are now charged with protecting our morality as well as our lives and property. Just happy I'm not a cop, is all I'm saying.

Also how does this affect the morality or safety of others? Isn't that like being angry at another person for having dessert when it is you who is dieting?

Jaded: Yes, much ado about nothing. Why are the police not out nabbing illegals, robbers, etc, instead of policing morals.

It’s not as if they caught these people in action, they are following up on a posting on YouTube which means they weren't even aware it was going on.

Que Sera Sera: I cannot understand why countries that legalise nude camping or beaches have extreme low rates in sex crime, unlike countries that make a lot of hoo-haa about exposing their nakedness in private.

Doc: Time for a change of tagline from ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’ to ‘Malaysia Truly Natural’.

Since the MH370 disaster, followed by the spate of kidnapping and terrorist activities in eastern Sabah which have resulted in plummeting tourist numbers despite it being a Visit Malaysia Year, I think promoting nudist or naturalist camps is a sure way of boosting our tourist numbers.

I think the Tourism Ministry should consider setting up enclosed nudist camps which are exclusive to foreigners. This way the morals of the Malaysian people can be preserved.

Paper: Nudists may have frolicked in front of surau

Kit P: The "in front of surau" story is just gratuitous comment. The place, Teluk Kampi, is as isolated and as far away from any human habitation as you can get on Penang island. I doubt if there is any surau anywhere near there.

Ex-PJ: I am quite sure the surau was embarrassed by the nudity around its vicinity.

But what is morally wrong with nudity? People who live in the Amazon and Papua New Guinea go naked in the hot weather. Moreover, it was done in an area with no onlookers anyway.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Morally this may be wrong given the fact that we are still nowhere near being a society that will accept nudity.

We even have separate coaches for men and women in our commuter trains so perhaps we need to find out what these people were up to and why they react in this way.

Is there a hidden message being sent to put the DAP-led state government in a bad light or is this just plain mischief? The police will have to find out.

Majoring on the Minor: Well, nudity is wrong, so say some of you. If you folks are Bible-believing folks, then you'd know that Adam and Eve were naked.

But trust the cage rattlers to put in a religious slant to everything. What better way to say these Chinese youths are belittling Islam, etc, etc.

TehTarik: This story seems to be getting worse by the day. Now they seem to have thrown insult on to injury. The full force of our highly esteemed men in blue should investigate this 'heinous' crime.

Rubystar_4037: To be naked is profane and dirty, but to be nude, that is art...

'Taman Negara ranger assisted at nudist camp'

Anon1: What's all the hype about? Adam and Eve did not wear any clothes until Adam met Eve, and turned over a new leaf.

Wayan: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, please focus on real matters of the state. We would like to hear more from you as to how your government intends to improve Penang.

You do not need to comment at length on just everything that catches the public's attention. Know the difference between a statesman and a politician.

Whatsup: Strange values - only applicable to those non-Umnos. We'll have the last laugh eventually, not now but in the near future, when all these lesser men are exposed for their hypocrisy and uncivilised behaviour.

Lim, more will come your way and your state will be next once Selangor is brought down.

Vijay47: Granted, going about displaying the family jewels is against the law. But was it in public?

These people went to some isolated forest area on an equally isolated island and the only reason the matter come into the public realm was that somebody put the video clip on the Internet, not that some unfortunate soul accidently stumbled over them.

Now all hell seems to have broken loose. Aren't there more important things to worry about? Some people want to go nude in the jungle, I say just leave them be.
