Peninsular Malaysia Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), which views the recent nude activity at a beach in Penang seriously, will beef up its patrol enforcement at the Penang National Park (TNPP).

Its director-general Abd Rasid Samsudin said the department would also review the staff placement at control posts frequented by tourists as an immediate step to address the incident.

"The coordination between TNPP management and agencies that offer tourism services such as boats and tourist guides will also be enhanced," he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

He said TNPP had been listed as one of the well-known ecotourism destinations in Asia and the national park was an area to carry out ecotourism activities and not immoral ones.

Appropriate action would also be taken if it was found that there was negligence or involvement of the staff in the nude activity, he said.

Abd Rasid said relevant agencies, especially the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the police were cooperating with the department to investigate the issue.

"Perhilitan is giving full cooperation to the police in investigating the case and will conduct an internal probe on the department's staff," he said.

He said the public and tourists visiting the ecotourism area were asked to comply to the regulations while conducting activities in TNPP area.

Abd Rasid said visitors should adhere to the sign board's 'do's and don'ts' guide to ensure TNPP was protected for them to enjoy the beauty of nature by not carrying out activities that were immoral or contravene the laws.

A video clip of the 'Penang Nude Sports Games 2014' had been uploaded on the social media, showing nine men and six women, all in the nude, painting their bodies, dancing and participating in some sports at the beach.
