MB office: Splash not part of Khalid's water deal

comments     Khairul Khalid     Published     Updated

KINIBIZ Despite Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s announcement of a master agreement to finalise Selangor’s water restructuring, it would seem that deal does not take into account the takeover of Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash) using the Water Services Industry Act (WSIA).

“Negotiations are to continue between Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Bhd (KDEB)/Air Selangor Sdn Bhd and Splash on a willing-buyer willing-seller basis. Federal government is to assist by facilitating. The aim is to resolve it as soon as possible,” a representative from Maximus Ongkili’s office told KiniBiz today.

Ongkili is the Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister.

“Splash is not in the picture (of the agreement) yet. It is up to the ministry to use WSIA. It’s their call,” said a representative from Khalid’s office to KiniBiz .

When asked further, neither parties were able to comment on a deadline for the deal with Splash to be reached.

Today, both Khalid and Ongkili jointly announced a master agreement of the water restructuring deal. Khalid lauded the deal by claiming Selangor’s long standing intention to control the state’s water assets has finally become reality.
