The Selangor menteri besar crisis is proof that there is no "viable alternative" to the ruling BN coalition, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said today.

"For Malaysia's future, there is no alternative to BN that is more viable," he said while officially opening the BN-friendly Makkal Sakthi party's annual general assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre today.

"An imitation product can never replicate the original product," he said, taking a dig at the infighting within Pakatan Rakyat over the Selangor crisis.

Najib also ran down Pakatan's inability to cooperate among just three parties.

"They can't manage just three parties. BN has 13 parties and many more BN-friendly parties, and we have managed it.

"That shows we are more sincere," he said.

"They tried to copy us, but now we see that their political understanding has been crushed," he added.

Not zero sum game

Meanwhile, Najib also asked all BN component and friendly parties not to be "jealous of one another".

"We cannot see it as a zero sum game, we must help everyone, and not selectively," he added.

Najib also encouraged the formation of more political parties that are friendly to BN even if they can't be formally inducted into the ruling coalition, arguing that all parties deserve a chance to express support for BN.

"In this case, BN is not just BN, it is BN plus plus. With this architecture, we can develop Malaysia," he added.
