The PAS syura council is not vested with executive power to take action on party members who join Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia (PasMa), the organisation said today.

PasMa president Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi said in a statement today that the executive power of the party rests with the PAS central committee.

"PasMa feels the statement by PAS syura council secretary Muhammad Zawawi Salleh should have been made by the PAS central committee, as only the central committee is vested to make decisions on behalf of the party.

"Zawawi has no right to issue such a statement, which falls under the realm of the central committee of the party,” said the former Kedah PAS state executive councillor.

Phahrolrazi added that PasMa is an NGO, not a political party. Nor is it tied to any political party as its role and activities are to strengthen Pakatan Rakyat.

The PAS syura council in its statement issued by Zawawi yesterday said it observed the actions of several PAS members in PasMa and these could split the party.

He also reminded members of party president Abdul Hadi Awang's advice to members not to get involved in the activities of PasMa.

Zawawi also advised the various PAS state liaison committees to give written reports to the central committee and the council if there is information about members getting involved in Pasa\Ma activities, so that action could be taken against them.

"We remind all PAS members that there is in existence an international plan moving actively in various media to weaken the Islamic movement from upholding Islam, which covers a wide range of areas, including the economy, social, welfare, and criminal law,” he warned.
