Wanita Isma is the latest to join the bandwagon in criticising The Star newspaper over a report in its sports section.

The wing's information chief Rafidah Hanim Mokhtar described the article's headline, 'Hot Porn', as "derogatory, disrespectful and insensitive".

The headline was in relation to Thai woman golfer Pornanong Phatlum, who took part a local tournament.

"The headline smacks of sexism through the connotation of women in an industry that exploits them sexually.

" The Star issued a statement short of an apology and merely stated that no offence was intended," Rafidah ( right ) said in a statement.

She added that Wanita Isma urged The Star to practice responsible journalism and not indulge in sensationalism that challenges Asian values.

" The Star should be mindful that children and teenagers are also reading the newspaper.

"Pornography is aggressively penetrating and encroaching every sphere of our youth’s life.

"It’s already an uphill struggle for parents to fight against it and the last thing we need is for our daily newspaper culturalising these immoralities through irresponsible choice of words," she said.

Yesterday, Women's Aid Organisation (WAO) also slammed The Star , stating the headline was "sexist and disrespectful to all women and culturally insensitive".
