The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today obtained a Magistrate’s Court order to place under remand a senior officer with a government agency to assist investigation relating to allegations that he demanded for favours in the form of sexual services.

The man, in his 50s, was arrested by MACC officers at a hotel in Jalan Putra in Alor Setar at about 2pm yesterday.

The order was issued by Magistrate Umzarul An-Nur Umar to allow investigations to be conducted under Section 7 of the MACC Act 2009.

The officer was believed to have asked for sexual services from single mothers as favours to help in approving housing applications under the Hardcore People's Housing Project (PPRT) in Kedah.

The arrest was made after MACC conducted surveillance over the past several months and it is believed among the victims was a single mother in her 20s.
