Umno Youth will bring the issue concerning the Court of Appeal's ruling on cross-dressing by Muslim men as a motion for debate in its meeting at Umno General Assembly 2014 scheduled to take place later this month.

Its chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, said the move was aimed at making Umno Youth's stance on the issue, which he believed had raised concerns, especially among the Malays.

"There are rising concerns among the Malays... we leave it to the Negeri Sembilan state government to file the appeal," he told a press conference after attending the Townhall Meeting session at Umno Youth Open Day today.

Khairy said the issue would be debated seriously at the meeting and with several recommendations were expected to be submitted to the government.

The Court of Appeal recently ruled that the Negeri Sembilan syariah law barring cross-dressing by Muslim men contravened the Federal Constitution.

In another development, Khairy, who is also Youth and Sports Minister, described Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tunku Imran Tuanku Jaafar's advice calling for Lee Chong Wei's doping case not to be taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), as a 'weird advice'.

He said the call suggested that when a person was taken to court and found guilty, he could not file an appeal against the court's decision.

"If the outcome of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) hearing is not in favour of Chong Wei, he has every right to take the case to CAS.

"This does not mean that Malaysia is not serious on the issue of doping, does not mean that we do not accept the BWF's decision... we do accept the decision, but we still have a chance (to appeal) and take it to the CAS," he said.

Last week, Chong Wei's B sample was tested positive for banned substance 'dexamethasone' at the Oslo University Hospital, Norway.
