Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan called on PKR's Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli today not to "prolong" his attempts to refer Ahmad to the rights and privileges committee as the deputy minister considers the matter "settled."

Rafizi was absent from Parliament today, even though speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia was ready to make a ruling.

However, the speaker said, Rafizi did not submit the documents requested by the speaker.

 

Ahmad told press conference that he had submitted to the speaker all the relevant documents to answer accusations from Rafizi ( left ) that Ahmad had "misled" the House on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) support letter controversy.

 

"I consider this matter settled and I consider the opposition to be unable to stand up to its accusations," Ahmad said.

 

"If Rafizi is sick, I wish he recovers quickly so we can settle this matter," he added.

Ahmad Maslan said that he did not know how Rafizi will come up with proof that the support letter issued for 1MDB’s RM 9.6 billion bond exercise in 2013 was a form of guarantee.

Despite admitting a support letter was indeed issued, Ahmad Maslan had repeatedly insisted he did not mislead the House even though he had been clearly quoted as saying in the Hansard that there “was no such thing as a support letter” when he was asked the question by DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua two weeks ago.

“I have sent all of my proof and explanation to the speaker. I had spoken to BN backbenchers to speak up about this issue in this House and explain the reality,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Maslan also refuted that he and the 1MDB CEO would participate in a forum on 1MDB organised by Rafizi’s NGO NOW this Wednesday.

“I never received an invite and I never gave my consent. Same goes to the 1MDB CEO,” he said.

“It is enough that I answer questions on 1MDB in Parliament and in press conferences. I don’t have to go to a forum organised by the opposition,” he added.
