DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua today challenged Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan to repeat accusations that Pua had “misled” the Dewan Rakyat inside the House so that Pua would have a chance to refer the deputy minister to the Rights and Privileges Committee yet again.

Ahmad had accused Pua of misleading the House due to the latter’s claims that several 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) subsidiaries had not submitted their financial statements on time for the past two years.

Despite initial threats to refer Pua to the rights and privileges committee, no BN MP had moved such a motion so far, despite Ahmad’s insistence that all 1MDB subsidiaries had submitted their financial statements.

Yesterday, Ahmad, in his Twitter account, repeated the accusation and demanded an apology from Pua over the matter.

But Pua, who today produced evidence from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) to back up his claims, challenged Ahmad Maslan to repeat it in the House.

“Perhaps if he should make the accusation in the House and we will have a second bite of the cherry and refer him to the Rights and Privileges Committee again,” he said.

Pua had previously made his accusations based on his own CCM search conducted on Nov 11, and he said today that a repeat search conducted yesterday produced similar results.

“It was another waste of RM15 because the information remains unchanged that no accounts had been filed since March 2012,” he said.

He said that he was “amused” by Ahmad Maslan’s demand for an apology.

He also questioned why CCM had not taken action against the companies and its directors even though they had violated the Companies Act by not submitting their financial statements.
