The four PAS state executive councillors (exco) who remained with Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's administration in his last days as Selangor menteri besar didn't approve the huge RM2.6 million payouts to eight of Khalid's former staff with Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI),

Any attempt to drag Selangor PAS into this controversy is being done with "ill intention", PAS Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said today, and he went on to call for an immediate investigation into the payouts by the Selangor government.

Despite previous reports that the PAS exco members had approved the payouts in Abdul Khalid's last exco meeting, Khalid said that the four exco members were merely "informed" about the matter and no approval was ever sought from them.

"The decision was made by the board of directors of MBI itself. The PAS exco members assumed that the minutes of the meeting still needed to be ratified by the new executive council before the payments are made.

“But, to their surprise, the money was transferred that very night itself," Khalid said, adding that this matter only came to light during the Selangor PAS meeting last night.

He also condemned the payouts, saying that it proved that claims about Abdul Khalid being a “stingy menteri besar’ were just a myth.

Khalid was accompanied at the press conference by PKR's Kuala Langat MP Abdullah Sani, DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua ( right ), and PAS' Tumpat MP Kamaruddin Jaafar.
 
All the MPs called for the payout controversy to be discussed in the state assembly and also be investigated by the state's Select Committee for Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat).
 
Khalid himself said that the payouts were "ludicrous" in nature and there was something "suspicious" in the manner they were done.
 
Pua said that it was clear that Khalid only wanted to "reward" those who had worked with him and called it as a "betrayal" of the people.
 
"With this, his integrity is broken," he said.
