Azmin puts foot down on stamped BSM bibles

James_3392: I support Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali’s assertion that the issue is resolved and we move on. Further interference on the issue will be counterproductive to all parties.

Understanding the complexity of our politics, the different forces that are working to manipulate the religious issues, the limitations of Azmin as MB within the forces, I give my utmost respect to Azmin for his courageous decision.

It may not be a perfect solution to all parties but no doubt at all, the best solution, which even Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had no courage to make. Folks, move on.

RCZ: We know Azmin will fight for everyone's rights because this is what will win him and PKR votes. But when wrong has been done, it must be put right properly and not compromised, or with the compromise supporting the wrongdoer.

It may be that Azmin had no choice in this matter and this was the best solution in the circumstances, to save face for everyone. But it better not happen again and holy books better not be defaced again. If this or something like this happens again, we will be watching.

Anonymous #57883242: Azmin has given his assurance that he will defend the rights of all Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims. But he has missed out the true minorities that need protection - the Bahai, Sikhs, Sai Babas. Hope he takes note.

Thequest: The Bible with the caveat statement may become a collector's item over the years.

SusahKes: "I give assurance to Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims, I will defend your rights." Sure, but when asked about the defacing of someone else's holy book - you ‘suruh orang’ (order), "Don't ask". You call that "defending your rights"?

Shibboleth: If I were Azmin I will tell the pressman, "The Bible issue is resolved, next question please." Thank you Azmin, the Christian voters in Selangor and Penang are solidly behind Pakatan. The moderates in Malaysia will prevail. Let’s hope Sabah and Sarawak voters will see the light.

FairMind: Just distribute one book to each church in Sabah and Sarawak to put in a transparent showcase prominently, to remind every Christians of the desecration that BN had done to their Bible and to remind them daily of their foolishness in voting for an anti-Christ.

This desecration is a god-sent message to Christians everywhere. A daily reminder to Christians to return the favour to BN, in the next general election.

Commentable: If the Christians don't like it, especially the ones in Sabah and Sarawak, then don't let BN ever fool you again. Come GE14, let's hope you know what to do.

FactnotFiction: Remember being bullied is normal. Our Lord told us we will be persecuted, but still we can be of good cheer because Jesus has overcome the world. Let God be the judge. I am sure Azmin has done his best.

Hplooi: Light at the end of the tunnel? More like an oncoming truck.

Appum: Christians, use your wisdom. Azmin had done all he could. Remember his hands are tied too. Show your displeasure in the one and only legitimate way (where they can't use the Sedition Act on you) at the GE14.

Pputeh: When Azmin attended the Christmas luncheon at the Holy Family Church in Kajang, were the crucifixes and other religious statues removed as was done some time ago when someone else attended a Christmas tea party?

Prudent: Yeah, Sabah and Sarawak Christians and their sympathisers, remember the desecration of the bibles come GE14. That's one of the key battlefields for Christians to fight this and related issues.

The other battlefield is prayer. Please do not cease praying for the Lord's will be done and for evil doers to be put out of power.

Odin: I say let the matter rest. Azmin has not only kept his promise and done his part, and that is to secure the release of the bibles, but he has also done what his predecessor was unable (or was it unwilling?) to do.

One ought to admire his decisive, prompt action and be grateful to him. Christians, particularly those in East Malaysia, who may wish that more could have been done, would be well advised to reject BN at the GE14 and vote in Pakatan.

Samurai: I may not be an Azmin fan but I do not blame him for being evasive, it's a prickly bomb thrown at Pakatan by BN, who is singularly responsible for both the 'Allah' row and the ban nationwide in every state, passed with the hands up from MIC, MCA and Gerakan and the rest no doubt.

It is a pity that no Muslim leader has the guts to stand up to this fiasco, even one who claims to follow the footsteps of Indonesian PM Joko Widodo, but then again, it's what we have come to expect of our Muslim leaders.

Worthy: Listen to Azmin's wisdom. Do not be reactive to the reactive statements stirring up the situation.

Bamboo: The sultan and Azmin don’t deserve the praises heaped on them. The solution was not honestly done in a fair manner.

Sleepy: It is wrong to stamp any holy book since it "belongs" to everyone. To me, the wisdom in the holy book is more important.

Anonymous_3f4b: How to let go when the holy bibles have been desecrated with unholy stamps all over. How to beget respect from other religions when your religion is not respected by others?

Basically: Imagine if Sarawak were to stamp the Quran 'For Muslims Only' to prevent proselytisation to Christians - or perhaps it only works one way?

Hbasill: What Azmin is saying is "I can only do what I did which is ensure the return the bibles. But if you want me to do more, then all Christians, be they in Sabah/Sarawak/West Malaysia, should vote Pakatan into power.

It will bring fair changes, which will allow what was practiced all this while since Independence to continue.

So rakyat, especially the Christians, do your part by urging your followers to vote for Pakatan as the new federal government, come GE14.

Mr KJ John: I agree that media not dig up this issue; as the archbishop of the Anglicans agreed and settled this issue within the Bride of Christ. Let it go.

Storm: I think God is forsaking this country.

WeLoveDemocracy: Just let it go. Christianity stresses the concept of forgiveness. Don't worry. God will judge.
