Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali refused to answer if he had supported the Selangor Royal Council's decision to revoke Anwar Ibrahim's 'datuk seri' title.

"I am in a hurry, I need to rush. I cannot answer right now," he said and entered his car that was parked outside his office in Shah Alam this evening.

Earlier, Azmin had met with Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam to discuss, among others, the rapid rise of dengue cases in the state.

Following this, the two had refused to entertain questions on other matters.

"The floor is opened to questions, only ask questions regarding dengue and not anything else," said the menteri besar.

Yesterday, suspended PKR member Badrul Hisham Shaharin (right) claimed that Azmin had consented to the title being revoked.

Badrul claimed that since Azmin was part of Selangor Royal Council, he had endorsed the move and has been aware of title revocation since November, even though it was announced on December 4.

There have also been news reports that Azmin will instead be conferred the ‘Datuk Seri’ title, although other reports dispute this.

Sharp rise of dengue in S'gor

Speaking after meeting with Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam, Azmin said that there has been a sharp increase in dengue cases in the state.

“There has been an increase of 160 percent in the number of dengue cases from 2013 to 2014,” Azmin said at the press conference.

He added that the state government would be working closely with the health ministry to eradicate the dengue cases through various prevention measures.

“A new dengue control programme will be introduced to ensure that the dengue problem in Selangor exterminated.”

Subramaniam (above) added that the even though a majority of Malaysians knew about dengue, very little has been done.

He said that the ministry would take extra caution to improve the health situation in the state, as it is has the most dense population in the country.

“We would work on improving the level of cleanliness (including at) construction sites, to prevent the diseases,” Subramaniam said.
