PAS today hit out at the DAP, suggesting that the the party can leave the Pakatan Rakyat pact if it is uncomfortable with the PAS struggle to implement hudud.

Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the DAP could leave the pact if it was not convinced of an opposition pact victory in the 14th general election if hudud is implemented in Kelantan.

"We (PAS) will not leave the opposition pact. If it (DAP) feels the opposition pact cannot win the general election, it can leave at any time.

"We have no problem with that, and we will not change our struggle (to implement hudud); we will not sacrifice our struggle just to win seats in the election," Mohd Amar told reporters at his office in Kota Baru.

Mohd Amar, who is the Kelantan PAS deputy commissioner, was commenting on a statement by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng yesterday that Pakatan must make a

clear stand that the opposition pact will not implement hudud if it wins the next general election.

Mohd Amar said the DAP should respect the PAS struggle all along to implement hudud in Kelantan.

"The resolution (adopted by the DAP) is for the DAP and not for PAS; we have our own struggle and it (DAP) cannot put pressure on us.

Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob said yesterday that the Kelantan government would convene a special meeting of the state Legislative Assembly to table an amendment to the Syariah Criminal Code (II) 1993, or better known as hudud, on Dec 29.
