Perkasa is envious of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's overseas trips, says Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Perkasa is not qualified to question Najib, Nazri said in pointing out that the prime minister has been an elected official working in service of Malaysia for decades.

"I don't think they are qualified to advise the prime minister.

"I think they are envious of seeing the prime minister go overseas, but he goes overseas not for holidays but for work. I know he is working," Nazri added.

During the Perkasa general assembly over the weekend, the movement's president Ibrahim Ali told Najib to cut down on his overseas trips and focus on resolving local issues, or risk losing federal power.

The prime minister had attended the Asean-South Korea Commemorative Summit earlier that week, which was held in Busan.

Meanwhile, Nazri told Perkasa to reflect upon itself first before criticising Najib, even offering to "buy" the NGO a mirror if it lacked one for that purpose.

 

"Who is this Perkasa advising our prime minister, a politician who has been contesting in elections and getting elected every time he contests?

"Surely all he does is in Malaysia's interests," he said.

"I suggest that if Perkasa wants to give advice, they should reflect upon themselves first.

"Who are they? I don't think they are qualified to advise the prime minister," he added.
