A video that has gone viral in the social media of a collapsed ceiling allegedly at the RM4 billion KL International Airport 2 (KLIA2) has been refuted by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).

“We wish to inform the public that there has been false information about klia2 being circulated in cyberspace through a video showing the scene of a collapsed ceiling in a shopping mall,” the company clarified in a Facebook posting.

The shopping mall mentioned by MAHB, where the incident took place, is the Spring Mall in Kuching, Sarawak.

In a message posted by the management of the Spring Mall, it said that the hole in the ceiling was the result of a burst pipe from the water tank at 6.54pm.

The damage has since been contained and there has been no disruption to its operation.

The 19-second video showed the building leaking from the lights of the ceiling.

As the water continued to pour heavily, a huge portion of the ceiling eventually collapsed and left a gaping hole.

The video is believed to have been recorded by a passer-by who was present at the scene and then spread through WhatsApp and Facebook.
