Indonesian court jails suspect for aiding fugitive Bali bombers
An Indonesian man accused of helping hide two Malaysian nationals sought for their key roles in the Bali bombings was today jailed for six years, officials said.
Sudiqdoyo was sentenced under heavy security in a special court in Riau province on Indonesia's Sumatra island for aiding fugitives Azhari and Mohammad Noordin Top, said court spokesman Afrizon.
Azhari and Top, both Malaysians and experts in bomb assembling, are still at large and have been accused of being behind other bomb strikes, including an attack on the Jakarta Marriott hotel in August 2003.
Afrizon said that Sudiqdoyo had assisted the two Malaysians in finding and renting a house in the main Riau city of Pekanbaru while they were on the run from the police in 2003.
He said the the defendent was considering an appeal against the sentence. Prosecutor Dame Sitepu, who had demanded 10 years for Sudiqdoyo, told AFP he may also appeal.
