Gunshots were fired at the home of Wong Soon Koh, Sarawak's local government and community development minister, this morning.

This was the second incident in six months.

Unlike the first incident , shots were also fired today at the printing plant of the See Hua Group, which is owned by tycoon Henry Lau, a known close associate of Wong.

Both incidents took place at around 5.30am, according to reports by Sarawakian dailies.

According to Borneo Post , a bullet hole was found in the bedroom window of Wong's home at Jalan Ipoh, Sibu.

Wong was in Kuching at the time of the shooting while his wife and family were at home.

According to The Star , meanwhile, a total of nine bullet holes were found at the printing plant, located some 10 minutes drive from Wong's home.

While the police have not provided a possible motive, Sarawakian media sources speculate the shooting could be linked to the Wong's United People's Party's (UPP) attempt to gain entry into BN.

Wong was once a powerful figure in the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) who later left and formed UPP as a splinter party.

Lau, whose KTS Group owns Sarawak's best-selling newspapers, is one of Wong's key backers.

The KTS Group owns the See Hua Daily , Borneo Post and Utusan Borneo dailies.
