The ‘kingpin’ who is not oppressing Malays

YOURSAY ‘I'm sure Phua is ready to sign a book-and-movie deal and retire.’

Police sources recount their Phua bust in 2004

Sodom Me Sodom You: Alleged kingpin Paul Phua Wei Seng is an extraordinary gentleman and keeps with like company.

I'm sure he's ready to sign a book-and-movie deal and retire. That Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will feature prominently in the book and movie is a given.

Abasir: Quite obviously, this is one Chinese who is not oppressing Malays. On the contrary, he could be feeding them - a noble act which should be lauded by all... like Zahid did.

Anticonmen: Conmen and criminals are regarded as friends to this regime. Ordinary citizens who peacefully demonstrate for clean elections are regarded as enemies. Money talks.

Odysseus: Agriculture Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob must be totally confused and upset when his own colleague in cabinet will go all out to defend and protect a Chinese criminal caught in another country.

Peacemaker: Zahid is using known convicts to help him with national security issues? What happened to the taxpayer-funded police and military? Were they all on vacation?

Was Phua paid for his sterling service to the nation?

Louis: So Phua was an odd job worker before becoming an international gambler. Fancy that. An odd job worker is roped in to help in our national security.

Victor: Zahid must elaborate how Phua had served Malaysian police and the Home Ministry in projects involving our national security, instead of claiming that is classified information under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).

Indeed, this action by the home minister should be debated at the coming parliamentary session.

Sali Tambap: "But due to being watched by our international counterparts, we had to ensure he did not enter (Malaysia) during the following World Cup (in 2006)."

One thing for sure was that Zahid's letter in saying that Malaysia was eager for Phua to come back to Malaysia from time to time was definitely wrong.

Anonymous #20513663: Journalists are talking more and more to sources 'inside the system' such as civil servants, armed forces personnel and law enforcement. This is an excellent development, congratulations to both sides and please keep up the good work.

May the truth and many dirty deeds done in secret over the past few decades be exposed once and for all.

The Malaysian public must give moral support to these 'sources' and whistleblowers to encourage more to step forward with information.

Back as Perlis mufti, Asri cycles to find the poor

Anonymous_1419577444: What Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin and Perlis crown prince Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Syed Sirajuddin are doing is so much more meaningful and brings forth what Islam really is.

They really put those bigots (you know who they are) and PAS ulama leaders to shame. Deeds speak louder than words.

Jesse: Asri, we need more genuine and caring public servants like you, not those corrupt ones sitting in air-con office and flying around in private jets. The nation would be better off with people who are concerned with social justice.

The Analyser: Is our system so disorganised and incompetent that the poor have to wait for the next mufti to ride past on his bike before they get another handout?

The hypocrisy of this piece of news is truly astounding, and the fact that people are actually sucked in by what is quite clearly a public relations exercise is even more astounding.

ABS: Analyser, don't knock the religion - but by all means knock the people who have not upheld it well. May you find ways that help soothe your bitterness.

Baiyuensheng: Remember that Asli is appointed due to the Perlis royal palace. If not for the palace’s forward-thinking and moving away from Umno/Perkasa/Isma mentality, an Asri-type person would not have been appointed. Credit must be given where it is due.

Dr Suresh Kumar: While you’re at it, help the poor Malaysians who are not Muslims as well, instead of running down the Hindus in your ceramahs. Only then will I call you a genuine human being.

Anonymous_1421406986: That is the spirit of a man who does God's work. One can hold a high position but there is nothing to prevent one from living a humble life.

The mufti is perfectly right in approaching his simple-minded flock with humility. I pray the other muftis and religious leaders of all religions applaud and emulate the Perlis mufti.

Tell the Truth: Good job, Asri! You have shown other muftis how to live up to their responsibilities.

Unlike those in PAS who wants to hudud the people every day, you are doing what Allah has called his servants to do and that is to look after the poor. Shame on those who only talk.

Kamikasi: Well done to the Perlis crown prince and the mufti. If there many muftis like you, sir, Malaysia will definitely prosper with less racial tension.

Hope: A glimpse of hope, very rare in Bolehland. Indeed a gift from above.
