Why stop Zaidi from having his day in court?

YOURSAY ‘If AG is right, dismissed employees can’t apply for judicial reviews.’

AG objects to Zaidi's judicial review bid

Vijay47: Taking into account all his many deeds and failures, attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail's latest venture into the world of justice and honour can hardly be described as surprising.

Major Zaidi Ahmad has turned to the courts, some would perhaps say naively, to repair the damage done to his image after years of service to king and country.

The court martial, after its chairman most charitably suggested that Zaidi turn to rubber-tapping, found him guilty and he was dismissed from the Air Force.

Many hold strongly to the belief that the military court had been most unfair to Zaidi and his dismissal, unwarranted as it was, will always remain a stain on his reputation and record unless it is removed.

What Zaidi is now seeking is amelioration to his name and honour.

SteveOh: Zaidi, in the people's view you are a man of integrity and I salute you for your moral courage and personal sacrifice for your country.

Someday soon you will be a hero when the truth is truly free. Consider your persecution as moral capital that will bear dividends for you in your future undertakings, whether in politics or social activism.

Hold your head high for you are a true son of the nation and like many other Malaysians who respect your stand, I salute you. May God bless you and lead you in his way.

Ipohcrite: Why is the AG afraid to let Zaidi have his day in court? I smell a rat.

Hplooi: The major should vigorously pursue this judicial review. This is not only his right but a principle of natural justice.

Single Malt: To my understanding a judicial review is requested by the accused if the judgment delivered against him is flawed and not against natural justice. What is so academic about that?

Anonymous #19098644: Are they saying that just because someone is wrongfully dismissed. they cannot obtain justice from the courts? Absurd. Go back to law school - or did the AG's staff just print their own law degrees?

Senior: If the AG is right, all dismissed employees will not be able to apply for judicial reviews.

Anonymous_1408265047: I can see the AG's point. A judicial review would reveal the total lack of natural justice in the court martial. So he, Zaidi, must be forced to shut up.

Anticonmen: The right to judicial review by a court of law is a citizen's right whether he is in the armed forces or a civilian. This is entrenched in the constitution.

MCA Youth wants Ismail to apologise but...

Wandering Star: No marbles to go all the way? MCA leaders, if you felt that Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Ismail Sabri owes the Chinese community an apology, why stop half-way.

Make sure he apologises to the Chinese community without any reservations. Should you fail in getting an apology, will MCA withdraw from BN coalition as a matter of principle? I challenge you to take up my dare.

Ginie: MCA Youth, please give face to your boss. He had already begged the Umno's president for understanding and you now wanted to sabotage him.

He had already settled everything in the cabinet meeting, without asking for resignation or an apology. What more do you want, MCA Youth?

Vijay47: I have seen this movie quite a few times. So many times, that in fact I can even quote much of the dialogue both in Mandarin and Tamil.

And I know that at the fade-out, the mystery will be explained as a mere misunderstanding and a good time will be had by all at the tea party hosted by Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

For sure Malaysiakini and Jews will not be invited. Somebody please wake me up when the film is over.

Senior: Yes, he should apologise. He should have asked Malays to boycott stubborn traders of all races. But the Prime Minister’s Office is shielding him.

Mohican: This problem is purportedly created to divert the people from the Altantuya Saariibuu murder case. Don't fall into the trap.

RCZ: MCA is all talk and no action. They have to toe their party line and their president had already said that he has chatted to the prime minister and he "understands".

Lagi apa mahu buat, MCA Youth? (What else do you want to do, MCA Youth?)

RSOH: The strongest way to teach Ismail Sabri a lesson is to quit MCA en masse and let it be known that it is Ismail's folly that led to the destruction of BN.

You can rejoin MCA once he has been kicked out.
