YOURSAY 'It is not game over and the game is bigger than the players.'

Jailing likely Anwar's end but will Pakatan survive?

Fair Play: Just like a hurricane, it's now over. Now to assess the real damages and its longer-term impact on both sides of the political divide. And the kingmakers? Of course, the right-thinking rakyat.

SteveOh: Who knows the future? I would not be hasty in writing off Anwar Ibrahim. It is not game over and the game is bigger than the players. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in jail. It is only the beginning...

Tok karut: Surely by now Pakatan is more than Anwar? There are people in the component parties who have worked very hard with Anwar or despite Anwar for an alternative coalition - Pakatan Rakyat - and the future of democracy and well-being of Malaysians of all walks of life. Insya Allah.

Snake-in-the-grass: They won't be extinct yet...

Sleepy: Even though I don't like Anwar Ibrahim to be jailed, there is a silver lining or a positive outcome, politically that is. In this case, opportunity for others, opportunity to re-strategise and opportunity to re-group with trusted/true friends. This is the time and opportunity to be focused to move forward.

Hplooi: If the decision was so simple, the court should have got over it early. But no, (as I earlier opined), 'case management' needs the 'approval' of the real decision-makers. In this case, the extreme right-wing clearly won this round.

Caesar: This is not the end. Remember Nelson Mandela, Ang San Suu Kyi...

Tailek: This decision will be the super glue that holds Pakatan together.

The Analyser: Only trouble is, super glue will not adhere to dirty surfaces.

Rhyme of history to Anwar's predicament

Fair Play: Change is the only constant. Perhaps Anwar's conviction will bring about the real change after so many false starts, including the 52 percent popular votes. When there is hope, there is a future.

The Analyser: Had Anwar been released, he would have been a 'has been’ that never was heading up a near defunct political coalition. How much weaker than that can you get? Now, Pakatan doesn't even have a 'has been' to head it up. His partners have so little faith in him that they couldn't even call him a leader.

I do feel some sadness for Anwar, but he made his bed, so he should now lie on it. It would have been a very cunning move on Umno's part to have released Anwar. That way, all their opposition would have been concentrated into one directionless, divided collection of losers.

Lee Hup: ‘Amanat terakhir’ yang terakhir Anwar Ibrahim in Petaling Jaya yesterday . Got Tian Chua, Lim Kit Siang, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, assemblyperson Lee Chean Chung, Rafizi Ramli, Azmin Ali, Mohamad Sabu, A Samad Said (Pak Samad), Perlis PKR Wanita chief Poziyah Hamzah and got Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Dinner followed by open-air ceramah. Sold 2,000 tickets for dinner, 1,800 people turned up. Then, 1,500 went to the open air ceramah (300 went home). Therefore, all those big names and only 1,500 people want to listen to Anwar Ibrahim's possible ‘Amanat terakhir’ yang terakhir. Have KL/PJ people got bored with Pakatan Rakyat? What happened to all the crowds of the past? Going to jail is a sad end for Anwar.

Hang Tuah PJ: Found guilty! Wait for more negative karma or in Malay, they say 'bala', to turun on this country.

Sodomy conviction makes headlines worldwide

Doc: Democracy in Malaysia was on life support for many years but Anwar Ibrahim was still managing to survive despite the repeated onslaught of Umno's determine to kill him off. Today, Umno has succeeded in killing democracy with the jailing of Anwar, the elected opposition leader on some highly trumped-up, fictitious sodomy charges.

Umno hopes that Malaysia will finally come under authoritarian rule firmly under its thumb and join the club of fellow pariah nations with similar type of rule like North Korea, Iran, Zimbabwe, Columbia, Cuba, etc.

Wpa: The jailing of Anwar has sparked a hidden revolution within most Malaysians. In fact, what seems to be a political assassination will backfire in the next general election. Most fence-sitters like me will be awakened by this act of injustice and karma is on the way for BN.

GMK: The darkest day in Malaysia history, if not in the world. Arm-twisted all the way and they succeeded to send him to jail for the second time. What a shame for Malaysia.

Tulan: This is not the end, it’s the beginning of ‘people's power’ to the people of Malaysia.

Jibtuya C4: Umno is definitely not afraid of convicting Anwar because it knows that the Malaysian government's reputation, internationally, is already down the drain. So. nothing to lose, can't get any worse. So, Umno would rather go all the way to kill off Anwar completely so it can continue to cling to power and steal the rakyat’s money. It's simple.

Bamboo: The whole world now knows Malaysia is a pseudo-democracy. Imagine they could twist and turn the evidence full of holes and morph it into credible evidence.

Existential Turd: I am envisioning a Zunar cartoon - a coffin with BN's name on it, a hand stretching out of the coffin hammering the last nail (Anwar) into the coffin.

Snake-in-the-grass: It's just news to everybody, but it's a shame to all Malaysians. Hang down your head, Mat Tak Malu.
