State firm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) must start generating money to pay off its debts because failure to pay will be a "systemic risk" to the country's economy.

However, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who spoke at a dialogue in New York on Wednesday, said this does not mean that 1MDB’s fundamentals were not “good enough”.
