Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dodged a question on the police probe on Lembah Pantai MP  Nurul Izzah Anwar, saying it's the inspector-general of police's (IGP) job to answer.

"That is an operational question that is better answered by the IGP.

"I only take care of matters of policy. If not, it's better I become the IGP," Zahid said at a press conference today.

He said questions regarding the probe should be directed at the IGP when the latter attends a function.

Yesterday the police initiated a probe on Nurul Izzah over a remark made in Parliament regarding the Sodomy II case that saw her father and Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim jailed for five years.

The police paid a visit to her home yesterday to get her statement, but the MP had already left for Kota Bharu.

This followed a police report that former Kulim Bandar Baharu MP Zulkifli Noordin made on Thursday alleging her speech was seditious.

Zulkifli claimed the immunity provided to parliamentary members under Article 63 Clause (2) of the federal constitution was not applicable to Nurul Izzah in this case.
