Police will call Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua so he can explain an angry tweet he made lambasting the police.

"Bastards. Real bastards. Royal my foot," Pua had tweeted in reaction to Nurul Izzah Anwar's arrest.

In response, IGP Khalid Abu Bakar said they will call the DAP national publicity secretary for questioning.

"Police will call Pua to explain what he meant by 'Royal my foot'. Is this aimed at the Malay Rulers?" Khalid tweeted.

When contacted, Pua denied that his tweet was refering to the Rulers.

"It was 100 percent not refering to Malay Rulers," he said.

Swift action

Nurul Izzah was arrested under the Sedition Act today, for a speech she made in Parliament which was critical of the judiciary.

Pua has since deleted his 'Royal my foot' tweet but maintained another tweet where he use the word "bastards" when reacting to news about Nurul Izzah's arrest.

On March 11, Nurul Izzah read portions of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim's speech where he claimed that he is a victim of political conspiracy.

The following day, former Kulim Bandar Baharu MP Zulkifli Noordin lodged a report against Nurul Izzah claiming that her criticism of the judiciary was seditious and an insult to the system.

Police were swift to act , visiting Nurul Izzah's home within 24 hours to demand that she have her statement recorded.

Her lawyers have argued that MPs enjoy legal immunity while speaking in Parliament.
