PARLIAMENT DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua has urged the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to probe SRC International, a subsidiary of Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOF Inc), over the use of RM3.8 billion in public funds loaned from the pensioners fund (KWAP).

During a press conference today, Pua ( right ) said the government's answers regarding the use of the funds, which were obtained by SRC International in 2011, are in contradiction with SRC International's own financial statements.

The government claimed that the funds were used for joint ventures and long term investments while SRC International's financial statements indicated that the funds have been used for "open-ended funds" and "quoted shares".

But in both cases, the financial statement and the government's reply in Parliament to Pua's queries did not specify the exact location of the money now, apart from saying that it was used to invest in a coal mining company in Mongolia.

Pua also urged the PAC to enlist the help of the auditor-general to commence the probe.

“These multi-billion ringgit scandals must be immediately prioritised as they make the routine purchases of RM1,940 marine binoculars for RM56,350 look like child’s play,” Pua said.

He said that Malaysia has “enough” international scandals and embarrassments and it does not need another one.
