Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz revealed his own “stupidity” when he said onnly “stupid people” discuss the hudud, PAS Dewan Ulama said.

Nazri on Monday said discussing the implementation of the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (Amendment 2015) 1993, which includes hudud, is pointless because it is unconstitutional.

Urging Nazri to repent, its information chief Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali ( left ) said that this is because hudud is Allah’s law and Allah is Nazri’s Maker.

“The Islamic penal code which includes hudud, qisas and ta’zir is the law of Allah - the God who created Nazri and gave him his soul, his body and his daily sustenance. Allah talked about His law in the Quran.

“So is Allah stupid according to Nazri? Ridiculing Allah’s law is ridiculing Allah. Such acts is blasphemy and can lead to apostasy,” he said in the statement.

The Kuala Nerus MP also quoted a verse in the Quran where hypocrites were told to have faith.

In reply, the hypocrites asked if they’re supposed to have faith like the “stupid people” but Allah reveals that it is the hypocrites who are truly stupid.

Advise him

“I advise Nazri, a Muslim, to repent to Allah. No man is perfect and mistakes can be corrected,” he said.

He also urged muftis and scholars in government to advise Nazri accordingly.

Nazri on Monday said it is pointless to discuss the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (Amendment 2015) 1993 because it is unconstitutional.

“They are all stupid, whoever is talking about this from whichever political party. This can only happen if there is an amendment to the federal constitution.

“So why even talk or bother about something that is against the constitution and will not happen? Exercise in futility,” Nazri, a former de facto law minister, reportedly said.

This was echoed by De Facto Law Minister Nancy Shukri who said the Kelantan enactment could cause double jeopardy since offences like theft are already a crime under civil law.

BN has yet to make a stand on the hudud, despite already meeting on this the day the Kelantan enactment was passed six days ago.

BN’s position is crucial because PAS needs two-thirds support from the House to change the constitution in order to implement the law in Kelantan.
