There's no need for Lim Kit Siang to rush Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak into making a stand on the hudud issue, Perkasa President Ibrahim Ali said.

"What's the hurry?" Ibrahim said in a text message sent to Malaysiakini .

He was asked to respond to DAP Lim Kit Siang’s ultimatum to Najib today declaring that the PM only has 48 hours until the next cabinet meeting to disclose his stand on the hudud bill.

If the premier fails to do so, then a new political scenario with new political coalitions will set in, Lim had said.

Ibrahim ( right ) took a swipe at the DAP supremo for issuing the ultimatum.

"Kit Siang is threatening the PM and giving him a chance to  (make a stand on) hudud in 48 hours. Super. Since when did he become everyone's leader?” Ibrahim, who is the former Pasir Mas MP, asked.

Ibrahim said Malay leaders would not take Lim’s challenge sitting down.

"Have all the Malay leaders become cowardly wimps? I don't think so.

"They will rise up and rebut this ultimatum," he said.

Najib had assured BN's component parties last week, that he will be making a stand on hudud soon

This follows PAS-ruled Kelantan’s decision to table amendments to the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment (1993) to pave the way for the eventual implementation of islamic law in Kelantan.

But so far, the PM has said nothing on the matter.
