Kita Lawan has insisted it is not gatecrashing the wedding reception of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's daughter but "celebrating" the event.

"We don't want to gatecrash the wedding; that is not the right perception. We just want to celebrate it," said the movement's committee member Fariz Musa.

As for DAP opting out because of not wanting to interrupt the wedding reception, the PKR supreme council member said their absence would not prevent the rally from being a success.

"We hope for DAP's support, but if they cannot commit, then the people, NGOs, and other political parties will make the rally a success," he told Malaysiakini .

However, Faris said the focus of tomorrow's rally should not be on the wedding.

"Our focus is on freedom for Anwar Ibrahim, the goods and services tax, and increasing price of goods and so on, so why focus on gatecrashing the wedding? It's not relevant," he added.

Najib's daughter Nooryana Najwa and her husband, Kazakhstan national Daniyar Kessikbayev, would be holding their wedding reception at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) tomorrow.

Kita Lawan plans to march to KLCC from Sogo around 4pm, after converging from Dataran Merdeka, Masjid Jamek, and the PAS headquarters on Jalan Raja Laut in Kuala Lumpur.

IGP Khalid Abu Bakar however has warned those taking part in tomorrow's protest will be arrested .
