Perfect PM - out of frying pan into fire for Dr M

FREE YOURSAY ‘Still figuring out the right candidate for your next ‘perfect’ PM?’

Dr M: Muhyiddin can be PM, but I'm not sure...

CQ Muar: Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, it’s time to stop using the party constitution as excuse, and in the process keep failing to get the right man to lead this country.

This nation is being torn to shreds and pieces due to avarice and greed. Corruption seemed to be the order of the day.

Driven by such instinct to wealth is entrenched amongst the leaders in Umno-BN and their coalition partners. This accounts for the madness to get into politics.

In the old days, people go and get a good education to pave a way for a steady future in life. Alas, it's no longer the case and this has taken a back seat.

Still figuring out the right candidate for your next ‘perfect’ PM, Mahathir? This has become a case of ‘out of the frying pan into the fire’ for you.

For that matter, no one is suitable and deserves the credit in the present line-up based on your party constitution. Look for someone out of your constitution, for there's an ideal Malay out there who awaits your wisdom.

The ideal Malay candidate as PM can be a Malay man or woman. It's someone who can helm honourably, with integrity and equitably.

Dpillai: They are all monsters that Dr M has himself created. When you dismantled a functioning democracy and replace it with a quasi-dictatorship, what do you expect?

Anyone sitting in the all-powerful PM’s seat will certainly be corrupted by such centralisation of power.

Anonymous_1421406986: Recommending DPM Muhyiddin Yassin as replacement is a sure way of bringing rift among Umno leadership, an expertise Mahathir has been employing over the last 30 years or more.

I hope the Umno leadership does not fall for it. During his time, Mahathir had expected and imposed 100 percent loyalty from party leaders.

Along the way, he has tarnished many of them - Musa Hitam, Anwar Ibrahim, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and now, Najib Razak.

Martha: Are you serious, Mahathir? Look at your first two choices, both of them were failures. Now you have the audacity to even suggest another of your choice to run our country.

This time we might as well be dead because this third time, the country will definitely go to the dogs.

See how cunning you are when you said "but if you go according to the party constitution, the person most eligible would be the deputy".

Anyway, let's see whether you can unseat Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, first.

Vking: Malaysians must never forget that under Mahathir, there were monetary losses amounting to tens of billions of ringgit - all unaccounted for and irretrievable.

Kasparovisdead: That’s true, Vking. Forex (foreign exchange) scandal in early 90s - RM30 billion, the Perwaja Steel scandal - RM10 billion, Bumiputera Malaysia Finance scandal - RM10 billion, Maminco-Makuwasa affair - RM1.6 billion. And this is only part of it.

Diablo: Mahathir, you cannot find the cleanest people in the world in the current cabinet as none of the ministers dare to declare their assets to the public.

But you can support Rafizi Ramli, Nurul Izzah or other Pakatan Rakyat leaders as the PM since not only they dare to declare their assets to the public, but they also dare to expose corruption and dare to speak up against injustices knowing they will face arrest by the IGP.

Anti Sarkis: This is his agenda. Bring down Najib. Make Muhyiddin the PM and make sure that his son, Mukhriz, becomes the DPM so that he'll be able to control Malaysia once again.

Fair Play: The DPM as PM? Seriously? As the education minister, just take a look at the present standard of our tertiary education. As the PM, where do we think our economy would be heading?

Negarawan: Muhyiddin messed up the entire education system. He is not qualified to be PM. He does not have the intellect, and he is a ‘Malay first’ ultra. Indeed, he will be no better than Najib.

Mahathir, since you are keen to run things behind the scene, why not you take over the helm?

After all, the ringgit may need to be pegged soon before it hits RM4 to US$1. By the way, I believe that the next PM should not be from Umno.

Xiao Zhu: Today, I don't want to say anything bad about Mahathir after his verbal rampage against Najib, even after he criticised the late LKY (former Singapore PM Lee Kuan Yew).

The good karma he reaped over the past two days has neutralised the bad karma of today. Suffice for me to say the late LKY had done Singapore plenty of goodness. Period.

Onyourtoes: Please Mahathir, please don't talk about clean and dirty in Umno. Everyone knows, including you.

It is not just corruption, it is corruption plus incompetence.
