Penang PKR Youth is planning to help mend ties between state DAP Youth  and PAS Youth ahead of the Permatang Pauh by-election.

State PKR youth deputy chief Khairil Anuar Kamaruddin ( left ) said the wing will organise a meeting with both DAP Youth and PAS Youth this Saturday to strengthen ties.

"BN has 14 coalition partners and not all of them are working together but we do not know as the media does not highlight it," Khairil Anuar said.

"The problem with DAP and PAS is not the entire Pakatan as there are only differences in ideologies," he added.

State PKR Youth vice-chief (2) Kumaresan Aramugam said that Pakatan state secretariat meeting last week saw PAS committing themselves 100 percent to help in Permatang Pauh.

These were said at a press conference called by state PKR Youth chief Asrol Sani Abdul Razak in Komtar today to announce the wing's new leadership line-up.

Pakatan Rakyat will work together

Their remarks follow the stand taken by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail that "when it comes to the crunch" all parties in Pakatan Rakyat will work together.

The Permatang Puah seat fell vacant last week when the Pardons Board rejected Anwar Ibrahim family's plea to seek pardon and prison release from the Yang DiPertuan Agong.

Anwar, who is also Parliamentary opposition leader, is serving a five year jail term in the Sungai Buloh prison for sodomy conviction.

DAP Youth however is adamant that they will not work with PAS Youth in Permatang Pauh.

The decision follows its national leadership's move to cut ties with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang over his plan to table the hudud law in Parliament.

Hadi's plan which did not materialise yet was opposed by both DAP and PKR as it was not agreed by the Pakatan leadership council.

"We will of course help out in Permatang Pauh but we will only work witk PKR Youth.

"We will not attend any ceramah or events if PAS is present," said Penang DAP Youth chief Ng Wei Aik when contacted.

PKR Youth fully backs Wan Azizah

Meanwhile, Asrol Sani dismissed opposition to Wan Azizah's candidacy in Permatang Pauh, saying the wing fully supported her as she is the most suitable candidate for the seat.

"She was the MP here from 1999 to 2008 but gave it up for Anwar to return to politics. She has sacrificed much," he said.

"Anyway we have decided to stand by the national leadership's choice of candidate in PP, whether it is Anwar family member or someone else," he added.

"After all the national leadership have not decided who is the candidate yet".

Asrol Sani said he was aware that their opponent Umno will bring up the issue of Anwar's family legacy in PP.

"But we have our own strategies to counter this kind of campaign," he said.

"We will be going all out to raise people's issues in this by-election, for example how the implementation of Goods and Services Tax have burdened the ordinary folks."
